Very Good
Very nice surroundings and tropical atmosphere. The balcony area is so nice and comfortable. The room is nice and spacious. The beach is just a short walk away just be aware in what season you visit. The resort staff and everyone in the village was very nice and I was able to walk at all hours.
The kitchen area is a bit outdated so only the electric kettle and microwave were functional. The "gym" area is very sus and unique. I wasn't able to swim in the pool due to the chlorine level I guess. Because it was the rainy season, the seaweed build up was excessive on the beach.

This place is special. They put care into it, from the funky authentic wall decorations and washroom mosaic to the soft towels to staff being available to give you a tuk tuk ride across town (for a fee). I've stayed all up and down the coast and all over Kenya and this place really stands out for its unique design.
The internet is good, on my laptop it clocked 77mbps upload/18 " download/23 Ms ping/8 Ms jitter. I was able to make video calls.
Both owners are kind and effective (when I was unavailable to receive my change, one owner followed up to make sure that I got it). A staffer started cleaning my room immediately after checkout time, which was good for me because he found two things that I would've forgotten.
The pool was a bit too small (but sufficient for laps). The gate is always locked, so you need a staffer to let you in or out (though of the many times I came and went, this only slightly delayed me once). There was another review complaining about the mosquitos and it's mostly true. I went out to sit on my balcony nightly, and eventually the mosquitos always won. However, the wall mounted fan allowed me to stay out there for a while. And I think mosquitos are going to be an issue anywhere you stay in Watamu. This isn't right on the beach (I'm saying this for your benefit; I knew that when I booked but didn't mind), but it's still walkable.

Wonderful
The staff were extremely helpful. Shout out to Peter, he helped me when I couldn't find a way back to Nairobi. Bedrooms are good value and the property has lots to offer with sitting areas out the back with a pool.
Quite far from some main tourist areas

I had a wonderful stay at Marijani. The staff were really welcoming and always available in case of anything. The room was well maintained and kept clean. The location is perfect, it's a 2 minutes walk to one of the nicest beaches in Watamu. A great location also for avoiding the hustling.
The internet. Bring enough mobile data.

Good location. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice room and property.
The room was brutally, horribly hot — especially the bathroom. Yikes.

Great breakfast, great value for money. They improved the place since my last stay.
Room nr.1 (my room) is a bit too exposed to the passage of staff and people. I had stayed in that room some time ago and the issue was the same, but I had forgotten about it. I know that the other rooms are great.

Good
The proximity to the beach.
The chef Alex was amazing and Joseph one of the workers was great
The manager (Abdi if i recall his name) was very very rude and almost ruined our stay. Avoid dealing with him - he has no customer service skills. Or maybe he didn't like us? I am yet to understand.

It's a great location. It walking distance to town and 2 minutes to the beach. It's such a wonderful little place. The pool is my favorite thing. Its clean and just a chilled place to be after a long day at the beach. It's a short ride to all the other places i wanted to visit and that was just wonderful.
I would bring my own pillow if you are keen about pillows. It was a little busy with people doing repairs and construction at the time of our visit which meant that it wasn't as quiet and private like I would have expected. But only because I think they were doing reno.

Fair
Friendly reception by the staff upon arrival and proximity to the beach and watamu shopping center
I felt like a majority of the staff could have been more professional. There was no water because they didn't put the pump on which delayed my check out. When the water finally came on, I had a work call at the same time and one of the staff tried to rush me out despite all of the delay being their fault. This was a deeply uncomfortable interaction given that all the staff there seemed to be all men. The chef was also rude when I asked him about breakfast at the hotel. Honestly, just very strange interactions I am not used to with service providers.

Very Good
Breakfast was excellent, staff were friendly, helpful and always available, was nice to have a (small) gym onsite. Location was fantastic - right by the beach.
No air conditioning in the room, was woken up twice by the call to prayer, and I wasn't convinced by the toilet's half-hearted attempts at flushing.
