It was a cute place but most importantly were the staff. Aisleen took good care of us and making sure our stay was comfortable. Other staff were nice too.
The Japanese breakfast was not good. The fish is very salty.

Exceptional
There was a breakfast in the morning, unusual for ryokans and smaller hotels in Japan.
All was good.

The hotel is great, the staff is amazing, responsive, and talkative; it was a huge pleasure to interact with them.
The hotel is in a quiet location, not far from the metro (a 10-minute walk).
There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby to eat and drink, and a supermarket is located about 500 meters from the hotel.
Breakfast is excellent at a reasonable price.
The Japanese sauna features an onsen-style bath, and there is a small bathing area available for an additional charge (not expensive, but I don't see the point in it) for 5 euros for 40 minutes.
It's simply a bathtub, without any modifications, where you can sit together in a lukewarm (let's say comfortably warm) bath... I don't find much value in that.
By the way, there are public baths in the area!

loved the traditional Japanese feel; very quiet room; quiet residential area at walking distance from Asakusa; good subway connections
futon-style bedding wasn't for us, but this is not to say it might not be comfortable for other guests!

Staff was beyond kind and helpful. Room was spacious for Tokyo.
Our shower was covered in hair when we checked in. It was also the only place we stayed that did not have a bidet.

Wonderful
Beautiful traditional machita style accommodation with tatami mats and futons. Great bakery a few blocks away that we visited every morning right across from the lifts to Iriya station. Extremely well priced for the quality of the stay and experience.
We wanted to be close to Ueno park for the cherry blossoms, playground and swan boats for the kids. It is walkable - about 20 mins with kids- but most days it was more convenient to catch the train. Nothing bad to say about the property itself.

Exceptional
It kept the Japanese vibe, the property was very clean and the futons and covers were so comfortable, like a cloud ! The staff were all lovely - helpful and positive. The location is great, very close to a metro station while still tranquil and a 7/11 store is just around the corner. I’d stay here again with pleasure, definitely recommend.

Wonderful
The location. Just a everyday residential neighborhood in Taito-Ku. Quiet and loved stopping in at the local konbini for snacks everyday. I found the local people to be kind and helpful. The Iriya train station was a short walk away. The staff at the property were fabulous.

We booked the traditional Japanese style room. It was small and futons awkard to get in and out for older people. Hard to sit on the floor. When we asked to switch no american style rooms were available.
