Very Good
Fantastic view from both the room and the restaurants. Wonderful area for temples, museums and history without the crowds. It was hot, so as planned we mostly one to three nearby Kyoto Kyocera Museum, which was fantastic with the Kusama Yayoi exhibit. 8 min walk.
The two room keys died on us the last day as we were having a special dinner. Personnel ran to us with replacements and the customer service specialist I discussed it with was very helpful, but apparently the problem may have been that when we checked in they got the check-out day wrong and the keys expired at 6p.m. It gave me a little concern. There must be some high turnover because some of the wonderfully friendly staff had not been there too long, and mistakes were made.

Wonderful
Amazing property, all our needs were met.
Our only wish was that they cleaned the outside windows of the rooms facing the courtyard. They were quite dirty.

The house keeping did good job every occasion. Good bed and pillows. The doorman gave us always great service.
Breakfast was poor. We stayed more than 10 days and we found that the menu was same every single day.
And the taste of dishes were not so great. Each dood booth had more than 2 stuff and not so friendly.
We stayed Okura Kyoto and Tokyo, Imperial Tokyo, Chinzanso Tokyo and Kyoto Higashiyama hotel and they were much better than this hotel even though we paid almost same amount of money.
There were totally no gift shop or original bakery-cake shop at all. Why not?
That was so inconvenient for us.

Excellent hotel, recently refurbished and much better quality than other Westins.
We got upgraded to a Junior Suite which was huge and had fantastic amenities.
The onsen area and gym/pool were great additions and worth going to.
Good selections of restaurants and a nice bar (just note high costs below).
Staff were friendly, rooms super clean and beds very comfortable.
Great, quiet location but easily walkable into centre of Kyoto (20-25 min walk) or a metro station a couple of minutes away.
Would definitely stay again.
Only complaint would be the prices in the bar and restaurant are expensive and very out of line with prices elsewhere in Japanese hotels. Not sure why there is such a mark up here.

Wonderful
facilities are excellent - room is comfy, onsen and gym are great, the onsen is a lovely treat when families arent acting like its a pool, staff was very nice once they realised i am from Japan and speak Japanese
no real business center,(no privacy, not a center - just a table in the lobby, most of the time people were just charging their phones) staff time and hospitality does not focus on customers needs i.e. too many staff willing to carry my day bag (no help needed for such a tiny bag) but not enough staff to do check in, wont honor bonvoy benefits without making a big deal of it, more information in languages other than English for people new to Japan would be helpful as some of the families had really bad manner in the onsen. all rooms should have desk for that price.
