The staff is incredibly welcoming—always kind, friendly, and helpful. The story of the family who owns the property is truly meaningful and adds a special touch to the experience. The place is beautiful, spotless, authentic, and exceptionally well maintained. The location is also very convenient.

Wonderful
Excellent food, atmosphere
Stairs, toilet, corridor, are all very narrow. I didn't realize that the toilet is not in my room.

Staff were very kind and accommodating, great location near the station and across the street from a shrine. Going to the onsen was very fun

This traditional Japanese ryokan was a very memorable experience. Staff was incredible and went above and beyond for us.
The traditional bed and living room were not super comfortable for two tall Canadians.

Ohanabo was a wonderful experience. The food was amazing and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It is a short walk to Kyoto station. If you are in the area you should experience this ryoken!

Wonderful
The hotel is very pretty and gives you the general gist of a traditional ryokan. The room was quite spacious and the beds are very comfortable, even the pillows that were different to feathered pillows. The staff were extremely helpful, courteous, and friendly.
The only thing I wasn’t thrilled about was the bathroom sink, it was very low. Nevertheless, this is probably because the bathroom was renovated in the old ryokan.

The property was charming and we were able to imagine what it was like staying there over 100 years ago. The staff was very welcoming and we enjoyed both an amazing dinner and breakfast.
Nothing. They thought of everything! We loved the comfort of the beds, the comforters and choice of pillows. The bathing rooms and the kimonos really contributed to a “step back in time” experience.

What a special place with supreme Japanese hospitality! I brought my two kids, ages 16 and 11, to experience traditional Japanese ryokan, onsen, kaiseki breakfast and we got an excellent version of all. Highly recommend staying here and the traditional breakfast.

I have never experienced customer service like this! So kind. So helpful. Our meals were unbelievable! I appreciate the wonderful experience the staff created for us. Going above and beyond for us and giving us wonderful recommendations.
I personally didn't love the pillows but I wanted an authentic experience and feel like I got it. The bathroom could have used better venting.

The staff was amazing. Food delicious and good amount.
Ofuro was the smallest of all the ones we had in the other hotels we stayed. That was not worth it.

Authentic charm right in the middle of Kyoto. Classic omotenashi and delicious food.
It's a century-old building, so you have to be able to take stairs.
