The views from the room and the rooftop were simply amazing. The hotel is in a very touristy area but it gets quite calm in the early mornings and nights and makes a huge difference. The staff was also very friendly and kind. The room was very stylish and spacious.
The hotel is located in the historic area therefore it took some minutes of walking since cars are not allowed. People with bigger suitcases might consider the luggage transfer service.

The view from the room/roof is unbeatable. Breakfast is light and fun. The location is great for Gion.
Steep uphill walk to hotel after long day, however the old streets of Gion are charming. There were a few carpet stains but nothing major. The room is exceptionally gorgeous and unique.

Very Good
The location was superb especially the view on the rooftop was incomparable. I also liked the small coffee shop in front of the hotel. It opened early so it was perfect to grab a cup of coffee in a quiet serene morning in Kyoto.
The quality of the bed was slightly disappointing. It was firm and thin. There is no elevator but it was ok as i stayed on second floor. Half of the room lights were not working. Had enough light to stay for one night.

Loved the location, our window had a amazing view. Staff was super friendly and nice, rooftop access for a beautiful view and a spacious room. Loved how you could walk outside and you're already in the heart of that area.

We had a great stay here and the staff was super friendly and helpful. You're right in the thick of things, but set back so you feel like you're escaping the fray.
It's a little on the expensive side for what you get. The entry to the bathroom was unusually low (about 5' 6" high) which meant hitting my head (I'm 6' 1" tall) more often than I'd like to admit.

We love our stay here! Location, vibe and pricing is excellent! I will definitely stay here next time if I visit Kyoto. I also love the industrial design. Staff are so nice too and they have good coffee and toast!! Very near the shops also! Plus there is a rooftop where you can have the pagoda view by yourself!!
I wish there was an elevator but no big deal.
