The facilities are very good and well maintained everything felt clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared. The room was cozy and had everything I needed, making it easy to relax after a day exploring Kyoto.
The amenities provided were complete and convenient, and the overall atmosphere was calm and welcoming. It’s a great place to stay if you’re looking for comfort, good facilities, and a peaceful environment in Kyoto. I would definitely recommend this inn and would happily stay here again.

Our ground floor room was spacious, with a separate dining/sitting area overlooking the Zen garden. The separate shower room with deep bath was modern and also spacious. There was also a separate toilet and a large corridor area connecting the bathroom, toilet and dining/sitting area. We loved the local neighbourhood that the guesthouse was in - there were many eating options and it was good to be away from the crowded tourist areas, although it meant we needed to catch public transport sometimes.
The layout was abit awkward: there was no sink in the bathroom, instead it was in the dining/sitting area. The fridge and microwave were in the bedroom area near the entry, so a long way from the teamaking area. Our bedroom was closest to the front door and reception area so we experienced noise from there, as well as from the room above us. For the price per night we were paying, we felt the guesthouse didn't quite hit the mark.

Such a great stay! The room was big and beautifully Japanese in style, with a lovely little garden. Everything was well-equipped, the staff were super friendly, and they cleaned the room every day. I really loved the whole experience!
Since the room follows a traditional style, the soundproofing wasn’t perfect — but the real issue came from the inconsiderate guests upstairs. Still, this place is a 10 out of 10 for me！

This is a splendid little ‘inn’ tucked away in the back streets not far from Kyoto University. I selected this accommodation for its location as I was visiting my daughter who is studying at Kyoto University. My room was larger than I needed but it was spotless and is easily warmed as the weather was cold. It was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. I stayed two nights and my room was serviced, which was an unnecessary surprise. I hardly saw the staff and when I did they were very friendly. The wifi is good and after hours access is via a pin pad. I would highly recommend this place for those looking for a simple comfortable stay in Kyoto.

The room was large and clean. The staff was very friendly, and you could communicate with the staff in both English and Japanese. They are very helpful and hospitable. I got a cleaning question and there was no problem for the staff to pay special attention to the bathroom. I had towels replaced with fresh ones, also coffee and tea were available in the room.

We like Marikoji Inn very much. We stayed twice and our stay was very enjoyable. It is very near to Kyoto university. We would love to come back to Marikoji Inn in our next trip to Kyoto.

very well equipped with microwave and tableware. Room looked cute
The walls are very thin, you understand every single word of what’s spoken in other rooms. I’m aware that that is pretty normal in Japanese houses, but I would not recommend this accommodation for light sleepers at all.
The door to our room did not fully close. There was a gap which meant that people could look inside if they wanted to. We liked the room itself, but felt like we had no privacy.
They don’t clean under/between the beds (found popcorn in the aisle between the beds)

The price was steep, but then accommodations all over Kyoto are very expensive any way.
