Pleasant
Large living room space
The bedroom upstairs is a medium sized loft but has the smallest bed. It wasn't even a size of a king.
They need a larger bed.
The kaiseki breakfast and dinner were very disappointing, I was excited to try it as my first kaiseki experience. The food was bland, cold, even the salmon was so dry and wasn't tasty at all. I ordered extra food for my 1 year old and they only brought 1 small steamed egg. We regret getting it. We ate out because we weren't satisfied and were still hungry.
I definitely will not pay for the kaiseki here again.

Very Good
The ryokan was luxurious and the kaiseki was excellent. The place was also really clean and well equipped. The drinks in the fridge were free!
The private bath was good but not completely covered from the neighbors. The place was great, but didn't feel like great value for money. It was on the overpriced side of things.

Wonderful
The hosts were lovely and we really enjoyed the mini tea ceremony. The style of the building was wonderful and the outdoor bath was very relaxing.
The air conditioners were not as strong as we are used to so we were a bit hot. Also, the bathroom downstairs was a bit awkward to get to in the night. If you are 6ft or over, you may have a bit of difficulty moving around. I think ideally 4 people would find it easier to sleep there than 5.

Our favourite place to stay in Japan, such a beautifully renovated traditional house. We really appreciated the welcome tea and sweets on arrival, and the helpful staff. A great neighbourhood to walk around, and easy to walk to various train stations, including the special randen tram line to Arashiyama (river & bamboo grove).

Wonderful
Lovely hostess and elaborate breakfasts. It felt traditional, elegant, and cozy all
at the same time. Pretty well
located.
Its quite hard for taxis to find if you are picking one up from the street; however if you call the taxi through Uber it sends the address.

Traveled as a family of four (2 adults and 2 teenagers). Fantastic accommodations. Hosts are super friendly and helpful. Love the traditional Japanese style. The outdoor tub was wonderful and relaxing. It was so lovely having drinks (sake, beer, water, coffee, tea, and soft drinks) available in the room and included in the rate. We didnt do the meal plan as we had other plans in Kyoto for food. Laundry is onsite and super convenient. Location is excellent - short walk to the subway. Lots of restaurants nearby walking distance. Convenience store close by, too. We stayed in many fantastic places while in Japan - this was our favorite.

We spent 3-nights in Kyoto for a family trip. Both my parents and my son enjoyed the stay, very clean and comfortable. Prepared everything we need during the stay. Japanese breakfast set is delicious. Location is good as well, quiet neighborhood with good choices of Japanese cuisine. Acceptable walking distance to the subway station.
Better to have a storage basket to put used towels. One of the cabinets was a little smelly.
