The staff were incredibly attentive and kind. They were helpful in giving directions, helping us to call a taxi, arranging our breakfast, and even giving us shoe dryers on a particularly rainy day! The room was very clean and had lovely traditional Japanese charm and calm. I loved having the tatami flooring and having a peaceful zen garden view right outside our window. The cyprus tub was very relaxing at the end of the night and I loved that they provide yukata robes for us! We tried both the Japanese and Western breakfasts and I really liked both. It was fun to try something new! There was a city bus stop about 5 minutes away that made travel pretty convenient.
I loved our stay here! It was one of my favorite places that we stayed while in Japan!

The location is very nice, with our room facing the creek across the road from the property. The area is non-touristy, with options for food and drinks within easy walking distance that made our stay memorable. The room was well appointed, with a nice Western style bed. The bathroom had a cedar bathtub, and the staff was efficient and frinedly.
Nothing to not like.

I loved this inn. I’ve stayed here twice. The staff is so kind, helpful and knowledgeable. The large rooms are Japanese in style with tatami mats and shoji screens, but furnished with comfortable beds.
The attention to detail is apparent in the lacquerware and dishes provided.
This is something that I didn’t like but there are 2 buildings, north and south. I stayed in both. The rooms were the same but the north building had a better vibe.

There are two buildings, north and south. We stayed in both. While the rooms are the same, the north building had a slightly more polished vibe. This is really just an observation not a complaint. We were very happy with both of the rooms.

We loved our stay at the Takasegawa Bettei. The ladies at reception were super nice, always smiling and making sure we had everything we needed. The room was spacious and very clean. The traditional tatami floor and cedar bathtub were wonderful. You could tell that a lot of thought had been put into the guests having everything they might need. There was a fridge, microwave, kettle, Nespresso machine, cups, glasses, teabags, water bottles etc. The location was very central, close to the bridge across the main river,, and within easy walking distance to so many shrines and temples, as well as major shopping areas and restaurants. The train station was also close. The whole ambiance was so peaceful and cozy, our room was so quiet. The hotel is situated by a lovely little stream that has sitting nooks so you can sit right by the water. There are several really cute cafés close to the hotel. We couldn't have loved our stay any more!
Nothing, everything was perfect.

Wonderful
I loved the location and the staff were very pleasant and spoke good English. The bathroom was incredibly beautiful and spacious.
I wish there were drawers/a dresser/cubby/storage in the rooms to put clothes in. We ended up using our suit cases in our hallways as our dressers.

Very traditional Japanese style. Our room was large, had a really cool cedar tub for soaking, its on a cute street with a canal, not a lot of traffic. There is a little pub next door. Easy walk to the trains. Peaceful property and the staff was very helpful. This was probably my favorite accommodation in Japan, just for the overall atmosphere.
So comfortable, hard to leave the room some mornings!

A great place to stay. Spacious room with traditional design (and enough space to leave your baggage), amazing private bathtub, perfect bed, friendly staff, good proximity to a lot of tourist places.
It was on the pricier side, but the whole experience was worth it.

Rooms are clean and well maintained. Staff was exceptionally welcoming and super helpful at all times and when called upon for assistance.
I’m-room wooden tub was spacious and a big bonus for relaxing.
Literally couldn’t find anything to dislike… perhaps not the best value relative to other hotels but the old traditional charms are what I was after and they delivered in spades!
