The place felt like you were in old Japan. The staff, all of them, provided superstar excellent hospitality. The breakfast was top notch.

Wonderful
Great location - within walking distance to train station, restaurants, coffee shops, convenient store and pharmacy. But tucked away in a quiet alley from traffic noise. Staff is very friendly and helpful… room is clean… bed is comfortable, shower is great.
Occasionally, noise from upstair bathroom, probably from the guests walking on wooden clogs.

Gorgeous location. Very friendly & helpful staff. Japanese breakfast was lovely.
A bit outside main Kyoto. Western breakfast wasn't great.

This was our second stay at this hotel, as we honeymoon'd here in 2024. This time we brought my family back and they were just as impressed as we were! The cedar bathtub is perfect after a long day, the beds are huge and comfortable, the breakfast is amazing, and the staff is kind. I would recommend this Ryokan style hotel to anyone! Also, visit Craft House around the corner for local beer and great small plates.
Nothing - this place is perfect

Staff are very welcoming and attentive. Location is close to Kyoto station and downtown Kyoto and many popular attractions. We appreciated the quiet atmosphere so it was easy to relax after each long day we had during our 5-night stay.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. The Japanese breakfast was an amazing experience and delicious. Our room was well kept and bath was great! The location was perfect; Kyoto Station, Keihan Line and Taxi service. Spacious room and comfy bed. Delicious tea and coffee. Private entrance and well placed smoker's post. Shoes off at the entrance and slippers provided. I like that they offer laundry service and there's options nearby like Lily Coin where you can do a load while walking the nearby garden.

Wonderful
A lovely hotel simple and without facilities such as a bar or restaurant but just wonderful. Staff all in kimonos and could not be more helpful. Room is a good size and bed very comfy. Very happy with our choice of a hotel in Kyoto

Everything- particularly the staff and location.
From now on, this will be our base when in Kyoto. Location is quiet and charming (by the Takasegawa Canal lined with cherry blossoms but near Pontocho, Kamogawa river,
Gion District and Higashiyama.
The staff, particularly Susmita, Jane and their supervisor (sorry I didn’t get her name) went above and beyond; from securing our dinner spots to calling taxis and organizing a special birthday surprise, they made the stay unforgettable.
Some of the taxi drivers we hailed on the way back are not familiar with the hotel. One dropped us off at 7-11, about 500
metres from the hotel.

Wonderful
Quiet location on side street not too far of a walk from the Kyoto train station. Staff was lovely, super helpful and very welcoming. Reasonably sized room with ample bedroom and bathroom space for a couple.
Initial directions to find the buildings (North vs South) were a little difficult upon arrival, some confusion on our part and the signage outside of the buildings.

Beautiful property with an amazing location right along the river. It was peaceful but still very convenient—easy access to the train and walkable to great spots in Kyoto. The staff was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and made the stay feel very personal. The room was comfortable, clean, and well-designed. Overall, probably our favorite place we stayed during the trip.
