Above and beyond service and ryokan experience!! I just checked out after a 4-night stay and wanted to cry, hug our hosts, and tell them we will be back soon. I dont recall feeling like this after a hotel or airbnb stay (and we have been traveling for 3 months). This is my second time in Kyoto and I can honestly say that I have had an authentic ryokan stay - a maiko show; nightly returns to freshly cleaned rooms and home-cooked/prepared goodies; ample space.
The best value and overall experience in Kyoto - dont miss out!!!

Staff were supremely friendly and so helpful. I felt like I was family even though I was there for such a short time. Very well kept facility.
Bathroom doesn't ventilate well and stays wet for far too long after you shower.

Everything I could have asked for and there even was a little Geisha show the one evening which was quite the treat. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Great little spot in my favorite area of the city.

EVERYTHING! This place is a gem. The staff supper friendly, I was reviewed with a welcome tea, staff super friendly, leave fresh fruits in the room every day, have noodles available for you to take. They even brought a maiko show. Excellent place to stay. Highly recomended.

Amazing location right in the heart of the most interesting part of Kyoto. The hospitality was magnificent- everyday a new mini surprise: fresh fruit for breakfast or a marvelous geisha apprentice show. The staff could not have been more attentive and hospitable. We travel a lot- this place is a gem

The most hospitable hotel I've ever seen. I can't think of a single negative, very helpful, very flexible, we had everything we needed as a family of four. We felt like we arrived to a family that really loved us. A highlight of our trip to Japan

Wonderful staff who went beyond to be helpful at every opportunity. Loved the daily treats they left for us in our room as well as the sweet dogs we got to pet when we lucked out and saw them on site.

It is very clean and staff is very kind. They leave you Japanese snacks and fresh cut fruit in your room. Laundry is also free which is nice.
This property is poor value for a 3-star inn experience of sleeping on the floor. I regret staying here for 4 nights and would have much preferred to stay at a modern hotel with a bed and amenities for the price they charge. Sleeping on the floor mats is not very comfortable. I felt like the room smelled bad (like herbal?), but there were no windows for me to open up. The cleaning ladies come in and shut off the AC so its super hot when we returned back into the room. Its a 15min walk away from the train station which can be tough with multiple suitcases. Definitely not worth $250+ a night, more like a $150/night motel.

The staff really went out of their way to be welcoming and friendly. I was escorted to my room and shown how everything works. Free fruit and tea was brought to me shortly after my arrival. There was a free Maiko show in the evening which was unexpected and wonderful. In the heart of Gion the location of the Ryokan was excellent also. A short walk and I found myself at Yasaka Shrine!
