The views of the across-the-street temple were great. We loved the complimentary robes you could use during the stay for free and take from the reception along all kinds of toiletries, very nice of them.
The bathroom wasn't soundproofed at all, one could hear everything that happened in the bathroom very clearly.

Great location for everything you want to walk to in Kyoto, right in the heart of “old town” with good vibes and food selection.
Our AC unit was obscurely bright (the LED display buttons) so we unplugged it.
The breakfast could be improved with fruit.

Super friendly and helpful staff. When guy who checked me in gave me lots of helpful tips on where to visit and what experiences to enjoy in Kyoto.
My room was "cozy" but well-equipped and comfortable. Windows and shades were easy to use and easy to adjust between full black-out and well-lit interior. The bathroom was squeaky clean.
Location: Cute, quiet neighborhood
Breakfast: Bare-bones but did the job with a variety of pastries and drink options
The table in the room was so small that the chair wouldn't fit under it, making it awkward to sit

We stayed in the holiday home and it has amazing location (not the same as the hotel).
A lot of space in the home, heating floors, nice bath with a small garden view (and you can open a doors and take a bath like outside).
There are low ceilings in the home so my husband always hit the lamps.
There is no information on the booking that holiday home has other location. So we come to the main hotel and after that have to go to other (it is just 7 min walk, but…).

This hotel has a tremendous location right in Gion. You are steps from some of the most interesting temples in Kyoto and also craft districts. There are plenty of restaurants and attractions in all directions. It is great! Room was a good size, too, plenty big enough for two.
The concept of the hotel is to provide barebones service in order to keep costs down. They succeed in that. But be aware that they are being pretty extreme in their efforts to keep service costs down: room isn't cleaned unless you ask for it; towels swapped if you put them in a basket outside your door only; and the "continental breakfast" was not good at all, I advise you to skip it. I would stay here again, I liked it! But don't expect anything luxurious. (Also, pet peeve, lots of pseudo-maps full of advertisements available in the lobby, but it would have been nice to have one good map of Kyoto.)
