Wonderful
Friendly staff, facility clean.
The only we disliked was that there was only one washing machine on premise on a first come first serve basis. Hotel staff does laundry for guests for a fee.

Wonderful
It was perfectly located, close to everywhere we wanted to go. Clean, comfortable, traditional yet modern all at the same time. I would recommend this place to anyone going to Kyoto.
Nothing to complain about. It was great!

Exceptional
Its cleanliness, the helpful staff, the facilities and my room, I booked a traditional room with tatami floor and futon bed and it was the best experience, being able to enjoy the amenities like wearing a Yukata was exceptional. Also, a really good breakfast. The bartender was great, I had a small sake tasting and he was so helpful and providing recommendations. The hotel is so well located that you can walk to a lot of places or go to a close station to move.
Nothing really, it was that good experience.

Fair
The location of the hotel is definitely one of its biggest advantages. It is surrounded by many great restaurants, and Nishiki Market is only about an 8-minute walk away. There are also several delicious bakeries nearby, which made our mornings even more enjoyable. What we loved most was the atmosphere of the hotel. The rooms are designed in a traditional Japanese style, and the lobby is beautifully decorated, creating a warm and authentic feeling throughout the property.
Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing in several ways. There was an unpleasant smell both in the hallway outside our room and inside the room itself. We stayed for three nights, and throughout the entire stay it was difficult to breathe comfortably and sleep because of the odor. The room also did not seem to have good ventilation.
Another issue was the beds. They kept sliding apart during the night, and at one point my husband almost fell onto the floor because the beds separated unexpectedly.
We informed the front desk about the terrible smell in our room, but unfortunately no action was taken. The staff apologized, but the problem was not resolved or investigated further.
As for breakfast, we found it to be quite basic and not worth the extra cost. Since there are many excellent restaurants, cafés, and bakeries nearby, we would recommend eating outside the hotel instead.
While the hotel has a great location and a charming Japanese atmosphere, the odor in the room and the lack of a solution from the staff significantly affected our stay.

Wonderful
Japanese breakfast was delicious and the dining area with the red cedar tables was very nice.
Also front desk staff were always willing to help with questions.
Location to some good dining options that you can walk to.
Maybe this is normal, but the mattresses were pretty hard. A little more padding would have been more comfortable.

Very Good
We had the smaller tatami room for one night before moving to a larger suite for the rest of our stay. The futons were more comfortable than I had initially thought. Staff was very kind.

Very Good
We loved the homey and cozy ryokan. The reception has staff 24/7 and were able to answer our questions. I was a little tentative on the tatami, but the futons were very comfortable. The shower was top-notch. I would definitely stay there again. There is a laundromat around the corner where we did our laundry - a great convenience (just make sure you use the separate dryers, not the wash/dry combo units).
The staff could have given us a tour of the facility. We didn't know they had the replica "tori gates" on the other side of the building until the day we checked out. We missed out on that photo op!

Location is a short walk from Nishiki Market. They offer several events (food tasting, sake tasting, etc) with a really knowledgeable host. The tatami room is a great addition
Rooms are a little too small for 4 adults

Wonderful
Rooms were very nice, the Japanese style room I had was outstanding, with roof access. The cultural immersion program was fun and informative. The package included Japanese style baths with were so extremely relaxing after hard days of sightseeing so I did them twice.
It’s a little far to walk to the nearest metro and train stations, so you have to allow a bit more time. The morning breakfast should offer a few more choices than just coffee and juice, they should include some bread or cereal because the set meal portions are a little small. Cable TV should have a few more English choices.

The facilities were very nice and cozy. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Pierre and Linh, thank you for your help and kindness during our stay.
There was just a bit of dust in some spots. As an allergic person to dust, this little aspect can be improved ?
