They now accept tatooed people in the public bath, no need to cover it.
I read so many good reviews that I had really high expectations. But I just found it ok, not good value for the money. A bit cold environment, the guest lounge doesn’t really offer anything - different that other hotels in Japan.

Wonderful
Beautiful hotel and rooms. The rooms were spacious by Japanese standards. The hotel is situated in Gion which has a number of great small restaurants and shops within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and attentive. The included lounge was a great spot to relax and have a drink and snack and meet other travelers staying at the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel!

First, the location: right in the heart of the Gion district. Step out of the hotel and you’re immediately surrounded by the buzz of restaurants, parks, temples, and traditional streets—all within walking distance. The hotel features modern architecture and has its own paid parking. The room is small, but the bed is very comfortable, and the bathroom is small but functional. Very simple but good public bath (no sauna, no cold pool). The Western-style breakfast was delicious.
Parking is paid, dinner is outrageously expensive.

Good location within walking distance to sites, shopping, transportation etc. Free shuttle to and from the Kyoto train station. Quiet neighborhood off of the main street so not very busy with traffic. Yukata and slippers provided for the onsen. If visiting Gion again, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The staff was amazing and very helpful as well.
The free guided tour availability was VERY limited and we missed out. Wish the train station shuttle service ran later into the evening.
