Exceptional
The location was conveniently located a few bus stops from Gion off a major avenue on a quiet street. The spacious lodge opens most hours of the day and offers different kinds of water, tea, coffee, snacks, wine etc on different hours. The breakfast was excellent - local and international cuisines with fresh ingredients and lots of vegetables, which can be hard to come by in Japan. The spa was nice too and it opens until 1am. Even the toiletries were of good quality and variety. The staff was courteous and very good in sharing their knowledge about the area. Mr. Chen at the front desk was especially helpful in recommending many good restaurants and answering our many questions. In short, to us, it is a hotel with an old-fashioned custom-oriented vibe and we felt well-taken care of. Couldn’t recommend enough!
The room was not large, but it has most of the things we needed.

The location is really great, in a very nice area to walk at night and enjoy many local restaurants. The little snacks that they were offering throughout the day were really appreciated.
The thing that I appreciated the least were the blurred windows which were not giving any visibility on the outside and that we could not open to change the air in the room. This was also not allowing us to understand how is the weather outside.

Location was good and a lounge was a good add on!
Room was terribly designed and could barely move, staff were cold and not as welcoming as other ones we experienced in Japan. I don’t think they changed the sheets even once during our 6 nights of stay there! They were quite smelly despite the request to clean the room!

It’s convenient to where I’m going, everything is walkable from convenience store, subway, Nishiki Market and the Gion district.

Very professional staff willing to assist you. Really enjoyed the communal “happy hour”! It was a good way to relax after a day of exploring and visiting Kyoto.

Wonderful
The onsen and vibrating chairs were very relaxful and the staff was very accomodating. The hotel's location is central to Kyoto. Coffee available at 6am in the lobby.

Excellent location, very close to the bus station. The room is very clean, and the space is enough to open suitcases. Staff are very friendly.
There’re two pillows, but one is too high and the other is too low.

Overall, I like my experience in staying in this hotel. It is very convenient in terms of location and luggage transfer. Their complementary lounge is the best. We'll definitely stay here again.
The only thing I did not like is the laundry. They should add more and upgrade their laundry room. It is very inconvenient for us tourist especially there were no laundromat close by.

I like about the location which makes it easier to navigate the city and it’s within walking distance to the Nishiki market and from there u may explore the area surrounding it . There was a lounge area provided with snacks and chazuke during the night time.
The staff seems to be working on silo, less interaction and almost no eye contact, service is just barely boring.

A beautiful hotel down a side street in Kyoto and a very short walk from Shio subway station. We enjoyed the various drinks and snacks made available in the lounge throughout the day, the spacious rooms, the friendly staff, and the massage chairs. While there were onsen facilities, we didn’t end up checking them out but I’m sure they were up to the high standards of the rest of the hotel.

We were 4 adults (parents with 2 adult children) and they accommodated us in one of their "family" rooms. It was a huge room with 4 full sized individual beds. We heard the Japanese hotel rooms are small, but this was definitely the exception. We were very comfortable. The breakfast area is open all day with complementary wine and snacks in the evening. The hotel is only about a half a mile walk from the open marketplace with dozens of shops and places to eat.
