Lovely common area, friendly atmosphere and very clean. The location is in a local area, but still central so you can easily reach all attractions. I spent a month there and came back because it's such a lovely place.

I have never been in a hostel that felt so authentically a part of the local culture.
We were woken up every morning by two toddlers screaming. Perhaps the hostel owners could enforce quiet from the guests a little more.

Just a very normal property with no advantage I guess
Check in staff was so cold

They keep asking about payment and its done from first meeting, my room was next to the main door in the second floor and it was so noisy everyone keep in and out and there was a family with kids never let me sleep ,
The place didnt give me any tast of Kyoto or any culture atmosphere it just has a lot of paper on wall say keep quiet, respect Kyoto,
Maybe its a good place but this is not my type of accommodation where there are a lot of charming staff and people serving you with what you need
I booked the family bath for me and it wasnt warm and 3 times changed with no reason yes the owner apologized but that also was a cold apology.
The one big thing I hate is they dont change your towel and the reason is lets save the water and save the world, are you guys kidding guests
How am I supposed to use 6 times shower with one single towel !!!
There is only 1 pillow in the room and no slippers no teeth brush I end up take pillows from the living room
I really dont like to give bad reviews but I couldnt stop myself from writing my experience because I was very much looking forward to my visit to Kyoto but ended up disappointed.
Sorry guys but I really didnt feel any welcome in your place and I felt uncomfortable

The place was great. Very nice atmosphere, with large cozy living room in authentic homely japanese style. The room was perfect. Very comfy. There are many nice touches and details. The style is homogenous, harmonious and simple. Everything is well organised, pleasant and relaxing.
Unfortunately, we received a poor welcome. The host looked at me with stupor when I entered and enquired if he works here. His reply: "I think so." That sort of stroppy remark already rubbed me the wrong way. It comes off as mocking. Thereafter, he sort of checked us in two hours early but didn't offer to let us into our rooms, so we huddled outside for a while, until he changed his mind. I find this very odd and inhospitable. So I didn't feel welcome there. I have been a superhost on Airbnb myself and I would never treat my guests this way. For this reason, I wouldn't stay there again because he makes me feel unwelcome. Too bad because the place is impeccable otherwise.
