They are under staff so service was limited. Shuttle bus does not run often. Staff are courteous and accommodating. They allowed us to have early check in, and late check out with a small fee.
Limited hours of dining and most restaurants in neighborhood did not open until 10or 11am. No playground for children

Hakone and the surrounding area is really pretty. The hotel is gorgeous and our rooms were well kept. The staff here were very nice and helpful and the hot springs and spa were a highlight. It was cool having access to the local area around it.
Here is the real kicker to me. All the shops and restaurants around the hotel all close at 4pm. To me this made the evening dining options very limited and just in general what do you do at night after 4pm. We just did the buffet restaurant and it was kind of overpriced for what it was. Even going into town to Motohakone there weren't a lot of options for restaurants there. It's just kind of weird to me for a tourist spot like this to shut down so early.

The hotel and location was amazing, being on the shore of Lake Ashinoko, we had beautiful views over the lake and could see the Pirate Ships sailing by. We could also see Mount Fuji when it was clear.
The hotel was huge and a little confusing but beautiful.
It was right next to the cable car entrance, a small shopping area and an aquarium.
We used the indoor and outdoor Onsen and gave them both a 10 out 10.
The shuttle bus was very handy as was the bus to and from the train at Odawara.
Highly recommend.
As the Hotel was not close to any towns we were restricted to the restaurants in the hotel for dinner which were very expense, which was disappointing.
We had to use the room service menu for dinner as the restaurants in the nearby town of Motohakone closed quite early.

Had a delicious dinner at the on site French restaurant, Le Trianon. The wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful, well appointed room with comfortable beds and stunning views.

The staff were very friendly and engaging. Lovely updated room, very comfortable beds and amazing views. This is a great hotel for a relaxing weekend away from city life. Perfect for a romantic weekend with someone special. Wonderful food!
The membership registration process is highly flawed if you are a foreign person living in Japan, which I am. I realize this is a problem for a limited group of people but their system won’t let you have a Japanese address and a name that isn’t Japanese (a name in Kanji is required) if your mailing address is in Japan which is stupid. But this is a Prince hotel issue overall and not one for this location in particular.

The location of this hotel is unbeatable! The view of Lake Ashinoko and Mt. Fuji was so beautiful & serene. Additionally, we were traveling by train for this trip, and we were really delighted that there was a free shuttle service to & from Odawara station.

Oh my God! The view from this hotel is breathtaking!!! Tranquil lake is surrounding the hotel and there is a nature trek leads to a dragon shrine. Beautiful! I love they put transparent tents with light at the garden so we could keep warm sitting in the tent and chitchat, at night in the winter and stargazing.
The only thing about the hotel I am asking to change is the forbidden of tattoo wearer in their onsen. I know is a culture value but now we are in 2026 earth year! A lot has changed.

Decent location and clean and spacious rooms.
1. No microwave in the rooms.
2. No convenience stores nearby.
3. Always traffic congestion in last 1 km of the road leading to the hotel.
4. Mattress are too soft and cause back pain just in 2 nights.

Lovely hotel grounds. On a clear day, you will get a view of Mt Fuji from the Lake Ashi. Although the rooms are alittle dated in its decor (like in the 80s), everything is clean and well kept. Breakfast is lovely - we chose the western buffet on both days. There is also an option for a jap set breakfast, no choice just a bento. Since we had kids 10 and 12, we thought having choice would be better. The view from the annex building was awesome, overlooks the onsen and the lake too. We enjoyed our stay as the staff were helpful and professional. Free parking availiable too.
Not that we didnt like it. Just a word of caution that the location of the hotel is very remote. We drove so we were mobile, and could drive out in the evenings to find dinner etc. But its pitch dark with no street lights, you need to use high beam for longer visibility. If you do not want to drive out at night, you have to make reservations at either the western or jap restaurant ahead of time. The staff can help and will advise you.

Pleasant
Unique setting
More remote than expected, the rooms are tired, simplistic and very basic. More budget than resort. The restaurant pricing is very high for buffet offerings.

Onsen was perfect
Room was perfect
Food: we tried the Japanese restaurant which was very aesthetic. We preferred the Lake Side Grill in which we had our breakfasts and dinners, twice. It was an outstanding buffet and we enjoyed an appreciation gesture by the Chef.
Although the hotel is located on lake Ashinoko which is very picturistic , it is isolated and not suitable for guests arriving without a car. We could not book a taxi and had to use all sorts of transportation means- bus, cable car, etc , in order to reach the points of interest such as the Open Air Museum

I liked the view of Mt Fuji over the lake. I liked the onsen. I liked the buffet dinner.
Mosquitos in the room. Stains on the beautiful purple carpet in the corridor. I didn't like that you have to walk outdoors to reach the onsen and the dinner buffet.

Fair
Location.
Service staff attitude. E.g 1 can only give two bottles of water at one time. But if you called the second time in 2 mins, they will give two more bottles. What’s the point ?
E.g 2 - was rudely asked to move the car into parking less than a minute after dropping the luggage at the drop off point even though there was no car waiting in the drop off area. Some staff who are quite insensitive. Can be trained. But It’s not the staff. It’s the policies they are being asked to follow that needs to change.
