Most of the baths where really good. The location is right next to a bus stop and vending machine with a convenience store. The room was also very good. I like the little double door you had to open to get to your room. However, putting the slippers in this area was inconvenient with the normal function of the door, but that might just be me!
One of the baths was too hot (burning, could not stay for more than 3 seconds) with no ability to cool it down.

Super clean, well-equipped, and just adorable. The decorations are in the traditional Japanese style, which makes the perfect vibes, and the onsen was just amazing both indoors and outdoors, all private! Super hot water that melts your worries away. Loved every second, I wish we had stayed longer.

The host was very thorough with the explanations, and the place itself was very beautiful, as were the onsens.
You get to choose out of the indoor one, or the two outdoors ones. When you leave for the outdoor onsens, you get a tag of either A or B to let the other guests know that it's occupied. Once in, you can lock the door and enjoy a great soak with full privacy. (Onsen B is a bit more private, to keep in mind especially during the day).
Walking down the Hakone streets with slippers, yukata and haori was surreal in and of itself.

Place was easy to find. Good way to experience a traditional Ryokan with a decent price. Was a glad surprise they had several private Onsen options and during your stay you could use them multiple times without extra fee.
The futons/mattresses are _really_ thin.

The location was super close to the station. The only thing that there is not many things close like restaurants. But we went for the Onsens and we were super satisfied.
Maybe having staff at night since some people do not respect the 1 hour usage of the Onsen.

Wonderful
Traditional ryokan in a small village close to Hakone. It is simple but well maintained and it offers indoor bath and also an outdoor private onsen which is really a treat! You walk five minutes and you can have the place for yourself, it offers a great experience. There is a little restaurant in front it that offers delicious home made food.

Directions from the station exit. Walk up the hill on the left hand side for a couple of minutes. You will see a liquor store and food store. Turn left into this street. There is a little shrine on the corner and the Manten No Hoshi is a couple of doors down on the left.
We stayed three nights and found it to be good value. Our room was on the ground floor. Consider this if you have mobility issues or heavy cases. Stairs are a little steep. Also there is no male toilet on the upper floor. We received a warm welcome on arrival. The reception area provides various amenities such as microwaves and hot water to make tea in your room. Hot baths were wonderful to relax in. WiFi was good too. The room had a fridge and sink. This is tradition Japanese accommodation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Would have liked communal seating area but it’s not a deal breaker.

The traditional Japanese accommodations were excellent. It was a highlight of our trip to Japan. They were very accommodating with our lack of the language and were able to make this a memory. We hope to stay again.

Disappointing
Not much
The property was run down, the room facilities were poor. The “futons”were old, very thin and sleeping was difficult. The host gave only the most perfunctory introduction to facilities, failed to respond to our request for directions and bus information until the next day! And then it was unhelpful. Compared to comparable and better facilities it was overpriced. We would have left even though we paid but the logistics were too difficult. I am surprised that Booking.com allows it to list

Private onsen at really reasonable prices. This is a well maintained basic Ryokan. The bed and rooms were as expected; nothing too fancy but not shabby either. Very clean and proper.
Highlight: Private Onsen. Although its a 1 min walk outside the property, its an amazing one. Would love to revisit.
There are no places to eat nearby. The nearest kombini has limited stock.

Excellent location - a few steps away from a bus stop and 3 mins walk from train station.
Greay value for money.
The staff at check in spoke great English.
The outdoor onsen was quite nice.
It’s an old inn and not very well maintained.

Loved the traditional Japanese home style. Free outside onsen we’re great
We saw a lot of stains on blankets, not sure it’s just a stain. Be aware of lot of bugs include mosquitoes cause it’s country side.

The room with tatami was great. We loved the fact that you can wear typical Japanese kimono, the kids had lots of fun! The outdoor onsens are fabulous and private. We were travelling with another family and had one onsen for the kids and one for us adults, very relaxing. We didn’t try the indoor ones but they look cool too.
Nothing.

Pleasant
Close to train station and bus stop, 2 onsen for guests short walk away.
Shared toilets, futon bed not very comfortable, but that is down to me, I knew what facilities were.
