If you want to experience a Japanese minimalistic style then this is an awesome place. They provide you with Yukata that boosts the experience even more!
The food is a little more pricey and the Japanese food is a little bit different. Tasty but awkward

We went in February, likely during the low season for this hotel, but still had an excellent stay. Though the guests were few, the hotel felt fully staffed and well-tended. The facilities, especially the onsen, were great. We loved our ryokan room as well. Definitely get the keiseki dinner and breakfast if you’re interested in more traditional Japanese fare. This place is probably very busy over summer, given its proximity to the golf course. During our winter visit though, it felt more like a relaxing, serene retreat. We loved our time here and would love to return.
We loved everything. The only FYI for visitors during the winter months is to prepare for potential snowstorms, which may affect transit to the hotel, since it’s up in the mountain. If you want to explore the surrounding areas, you’ll probably want to rent a car rather than rely on public transit, since buses are more limited (at least during our visit over winter)

Wonderful
Delicious dinner, wonderful staffs, excelent services and facility.
-Traditional Breakfast is not very foreigners friendly. I wish Booking.com shows western style breakfast selection.
-An English explaination of meals (how to eat, ingredients, etc)

Wonderful
Wonderful stay for a big city escape! Foreigners friendly, everything is clear!
The transfer shuttle situation. Turned out that our shuttle was cancelled, and we had to figure out with another bus from other hotel location to give us a ride.

We enjoyed the half board meals and the onsen. The reception was nice and even picked up my other group of friends when I asked them to from the bus stop where the hotel has a shuttle bus service.
The free drinks at the lounge had an option for matcha drink but it only came out with water-downed milk. The coffee was fine though.
Needs more sign for guests to take off their clothing in the onsens. I saw someone wearing their underwear and onsens are supposed to be done without any clothing. This is of no fault to the hotel but bigger signs might be needed.

I really liked the way the staff treated us and how clean and traditional the hotel was. It was a nice immersive experience, and it was a very welcoming stay. The shuttle service that the Hotel provided was great, and we were right near a bus stop, which made transport convenient. Although, because of how late of a bus stop it was on the route, we couldn't get a bus ride back to the train station after checkout that could fit our group size and luggage, so we were forced to take an Uber.

Wonderful
We loved our stay, the Japanese style room and the kaiseki dinner. Some people say facilities are old but everything is of good quality, working well and it’s part of the charm of the place. Staff was very kind and helpful both in the restaurant and reception. When we left, staff came outside to greet the group, that was very nice.
The onsen was wonderful!
Not much to do in terms of sport, if you don’t do golf. I would really advise the hotel to set up a yoga and a zen room and hopefully open access to the bigger garden to all guests not only those who book a golf class.
Our daughter ordered a kids western menu instead of the Japanese one, but we had to pay extra for it although she no longer received the Japanese meal included in the booking. We appreciated very much that this was accepted, however it would have seemed normal not to charge us extra since she did not eat two meals.

Wonderful
My God, the tranquillity and serenity were incredible. It’s rare to find somewhere this peaceful. The hot bath, especially the open-air one, was absolutely beautiful: relaxing, comfortable and welcoming. Our spacious room made for great photos in traditional Japanese clothes. The night felt surreal, gazing at the stars, and waking up to a colourful sunrise was unforgettable. Staff were friendly and attentive, showing us around and helping with transfers to the nearest bus stop and then to Odawara Station for our trip to Kyoto. Facilities were clean, and the free coffee area was a lovely bonus. We were lucky to stay on a weekday when it was quieter, making the experience even more relaxing.
If we ever come back to Hakone, we will definitely be choosing this hotel.
The only point to keep in mind is the hotel’s somewhat challenging location; renting a car or booking a taxi would have made a big difference. It would also help if the hotel provided clearer information about their transfer options beforehand, so guests know they can book these services in advance. After travelling from Tokyo and spending more than three hours on public transport, we unfortunately weren’t in the best state to fully enjoy the hotel’s Japanese dinner and breakfast. That was more about our timing than the hotel itself.

Disappointing Stay – No Air Conditioning and Overpriced
I had high expectations for Prince Hotel Hakone, but unfortunately our stay was very disappointing. Despite booking a room with air conditioning, we arrived to find that the AC did not work at all. When we reported this to the reception, we were simply told to open the window because it was “cool outside” — not an acceptable solution for a hotel of this price range.
The room was uncomfortably warm at night, and it was difficult to get proper rest. We had booked for two nights, but the lack of basic comfort made it a frustrating experience. It honestly felt like the air conditioning had been broken for some time and no effort was made to fix it.
To make matters worse, both the accommodation and the food were overpriced for what was offered.
Sadly, I cannot recommend this hotel and would not return. It did not live up to the price or the promises.

Beautiful facilities and buildings. Really enjoyed the whole experience especially being able to walk around in the Japanese robes. Staff at the front desk were exceptional and were very responsive to all our requests.
Perhaps the air quality, odors could be improved.
Guessing that the hot springs and older building add to the slightly musty scent but nothing unbearable.
