Good
It was a beautiful location and very authentic
It was a little more authentic than I anticipated. Mattress was an inch thick. There were no taxi to take us down in the morning so we had to walk which was an hour drive up the mountain. We had to have food deli for dinner.

Wonderful
Traditional Japanese onsen, it really worths if you wanna have a full Japanese experience.
It’s not about the property, it seems Hakone is more “designed” for cars. So here’s a tip: rent a car, you’ll have a better experience. It was a bit hard to arrive in the hotel with the luggage and to move around.

The property is so beautiful
I wish the hotel had a shuttle from the station for their guests

The onsen was beautiful and is nestled in the quiet Hakone countryside. It's far from traffic and is a beautiful, peaceful place to relax and unwind.
The nearest bus stop is quite far from the accommodation. To get from the bus stop to the ryokan is an entirely uphill walk on a road with no footpaths. We found it difficult to make the walk up with luggage. There was no service provided by the accommodation to get up there, nor any local taxi service available to ring to help us up. It wasn't a difficult walk but it was inconvenient as one of our number has breathing problems and we didn't know previously that we'd need to walk quite so far.

Quiet and calm, lovely room with lovely view! The onsen was HOT, but it feels so good I literally took 3 bath while staying there for 1 night. Definitely not recommended if you have heavy luggage tho! Store it at the coin locker in Odawara, just bring 1 small bags enough clothes for your stay. They have coin washer and dryer!

Wonderful
The place is very traditional and done in Japanese way so you can immerse into naturalism. The rooms are very romantic and cozy. The sound of water tapping on the window will make you have one of the best sleeping nights in your life!
The check in time is too late (as of 15:00). The onsen facilities are a bit outdated.
Note that water smells on sulfer and it might not be for everyone's taste (natural springs!)

Quiet and cozy place that is perfect for staying away from the noise
A bit far away from the sightseeing spots

The hotel was secluded and very private. Was fantastic but would have been easier to navigate if one had a car. The onsen was so relaxing and, while it was indoors, you felt as though you were sitting in the forest. The meals were beautiful to the eye and taste; it was a shame to eat then but they were so sumptuous.
The bus service was fine but having a car would make the property more accessible. But driving in Hakone would also present a challenge.

The breakfast and dinner are exceptionally good and surprising ! We have got crab soup early in the morning ! Very healthy and delicious. Nakamura Shigeki San is quiet but very good and very helpful. I like the whole team of people who prepare the breakfast and dinner. That made our stay in Hakone a perfect one! Arigato arigato

Pleasant
Really nice setting, good and original onsen.
Dinner was disappointing. It was expensive and small servings, compared to what you can usually experience in Japan for that price.

- top location
- amazing natural onsen
- food wasn’t bad but wasn’t great (some seemed to be frozen)
- toilets were really smelly (and all shared)
- inside of the hotel really smells like cigarette

The hotel is situated in nature which is lovely when in the onsen. The onsen was a great experience, I really loved the views and it was clean and tidy.
Location was far from the main parts of Hakone but the Hakone Fuji Free Pass bus tickets we bought helped with this.
Shared toilets. Our children weren’t keen on the onsen showers and there is no alternative. This isn’t the fault of the hotel, just something to be aware of.
The dryer was filled with dog fur and it got all through our clothes when we used it.
The mats for beds were very thin.

Very Good
The futons were very comfortable, and the location is really good for transport links, being further away means you can always get a seat on the bus which is really busy. The scenery is really lovely and the views from the onsen are amazing.
The female access to the big onsen is restricted to mornings only which makes it unfair as in the evenings where most people want to relax in the hot water, females are limited to a very small onsen. The only shower facility is within the onsen so unless you are prepared to be naked around others, this can be an issue.

Wonderful
The accommodation is very traditional. WE slept on futons, had an amazing dinner and breakfast, and enjoyed the onsen facing the forest.
I could not eat some of the Japanese breakfast as there was too much fish, I would have appreciated being able to choose as I learnt later there were several menus on offer on different days,

The onsen has a very nice ambience, morning bath was fantastic! Dinner and breakfast was a delicious experience. 15 min by bus from lake Ashi where you can start your Hakone trip. Room was spacious enough, beds were very comfortable. Good value for money.
