Very traditional Japanese ryokan experience. The building feels like it's in its original state, and staying here is like stepping back in time, for better or worse. The staff were very nice and they offer vegetarian kaiseki meals if reserved in advance.
Terrible value for money. Extremely expensive considering the meager accommodations (no attached bathroom in the room) and very small public onsen. For this price, there are better onsen ryokan in Hakone. Having stayed at dozens of ryokan, I was very disappointed in what we got for the price we paid.

This place is totally worth visiting, the food, outdoor onsens, and the vibe were absolutely stunning and authentic, the location is 3 minutes walking distance to the cable car, so you can enjoy the sightseeing from the morning without even going anywhere else. Totally recommend!

The property is located in a beautiful forest and designed so that you can enjoy nature from your room, or the open air bath. The food is delicious and plentiful. The staff is amazing.

It was great to experience old traditional ryokan. The venue is well kept with some vintage stuff around. Dinner a breakfast were traditional, well cooked and tasty. Futons were quite comfortable to sleep.
While it is not forbidden to bring small children, there is nothing prepared for them. At the breakfast a dinner literally no food is given except rice and it was challenging to keep our 3-year old child well fed. Since we were drying the high season, I understand the pricing policy, but it is also true you may get completely new hotel with meals at the same price.

Wow, what a place. The quiet setting. The traditional rooms out in the forest along the rock path. The outdoor onsen in the trees. The food was art. In presentation and flavor.
The sandals that didn’t fit my giant Gaijin feet.

It’s a beautiful traditional Japanese hotel with onsen. The grounds are beautiful and each room has a wonderful private onsen. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The dinner and breakfast are phenomenal.
It’s a little dated, but it makes sense given the traditional setting.

It is definitely a Japanese breakfast which offered unique traditional dishes.
Because we are Westerners, we are not used to so much savory food in the morning.

It is a very traditional japanese ryokan, the breakfast and dinner are very traditional as well. We were very happy with our room and the onsen was great. The futons were especially comfortable and it was quite cozy at night.
With the dinner the dishes were always not as warm as they should’ve been- they were always served just a bit hotter than room temperature.

Perfect location. Literally 5 minutes from Gora Station. Serene and lovely surroundings. Staff was kind and gracious.
Food was fabulous! We took the breakfast and dinner option. Dinner was wonderful but a little overwhelming because there were so many dishes. Breakfast was more manageable.
Loved the property but our room, Kasei, was a tad bit tiny.

Excellent location and delicious meals. History and wonderful staff. Have private tub.
Only one small outdoor tub. Although beautiful and clean, it is tucked away from our building.

The service from the staff was exceptional. Very friendly and attentive. This was probably the best experience of our stay. Everything from the food to the design of the hotel and rooms made it feel like a very authentic ryokan experience. We enjoyed everything about the hotel.
Nothing about the hotel. We wish the weather could have been better to be able to see Mt Fuji or take a tour around the lake.

Staff was excellent in all aspects. Friendly and professional. Staying was a real traditional Japanese experience and we felt personally cared for. The spa and bath were real highlights, and the environment was peaceful and meditative. A relaxing experience all around.
