Pleasant
The staff were welcoming and I loved the repurposing of a traditional building.
I felt uncomfortable with the fact that the duvet cover isn’t cleaned between guests. I was asked to strip the pillowcase and fitted sheet when I checked out, and nothing else.

Very Good
The place was clean. The staff was cery kind and open to help. Atmosphere and services are high class. The price is affordable. It is recommended for 1-2 nights.
The futon is not for everyone. It is soft. So my friend had a small backpain. But for the rest of the company it was OK.

The vibe is really good, feels like you really lived in a local Japanese house , and the location is really convenient too!
There’s only 2 showers and toilets for female

Very Good
I liked my bed it was cozy and had a lock box instead. I stayed in the girls only room. It was a good location easy to get to other places by foot, bus or subway.
10pm in the common room is too early and hostels are supposed to be fun and social in the evening. 10pm quiet time in the main room ruined that.

It’s so comfortable and cozy with that unique, down to earth, and cool vibe. Plus, it smells really good. Like sandalwood. A lot of the little details are really nice, even the dimmable and bendy lamps in the bunks, and colourful linen curtains. It’s funky, fresh, and homey.
Loved it.

Disappointing
Great location. Clean.
1) no elevator. Beware if you have large luggage
2) nowhere to store luggage at all. Unless you're keeping it in your bed with you (gross), you just have to leave it in the small walkway, further cluttering up the space
3) no privacy. When you sit up in bed you can see into other top bunk beds. When you walk up the stairs to the top bunks you can see every square inch of your neighbors bunks around the entire room. That's crazy to me.
4) the top bunks are within touching distance of the room lights with no protection from them. So at 330am and 430am, when people in the room got in from drinking or needed to use the bathroom, they would turn on the lights, which woke all the top bunk people up. Ridiculous. The flimsy curtain in front of your bunk entrance also doesn't block any light and has a knot on each side of the curtain leaving 3 inches of space open on both sides as well.
5) they only offer luggage storage at 11am at the earliest. Extremely inconvenient to any traveler not wanting to be stuck in the hostel for hours waiting for them. Had to transport it to my next location and lost 3 hours of the hike i wanted to do to accommodate for this.
6) NOISE!!! the shower is in the room with you, so the 5am people wanting to shower, means the entire room HEARS EVERYTHING. Then they put the hair dryer in the room too. Honestly...don't get me started on the 3 people who dried their hair late at night and early in the morning. Also, someone continued banging on the door at 230am and 4am. I don't know if they forgot their code or what. But they kept banging on the doors and everyone woke up but we are in an all female dorm so we aren't answering that. We were on the 2nd floor so I can't imagine how loud it was for the first floor.
I understand that people are inconsiderate and that we can't control that. But you can control the design of the hostel and improve the layout to prevent many of these things.

Wonderful
Our room was clean and comfortable. We arrived early and were able to store our baggage until check in. Great location... easy walking distance to the main sights.
The light switch to our room was outside the room in the hallway so sometimes other people could switch our light on/off by accident.

Very Good
This place had a lot of character and was very conveniently located to stations, convenience stores, and restaurants. The staff spoke perfect English which made it easy to check in with my barely usable Japanese. The facilities were mainly clean except for a few stains on curtains and such. Overall, very happy.

Fair
The common area is cute and I liked that outlets and chargers were readily available with the seating. The bed was also comfortable. And I was very happy they had the option to do laundry since most people staying in a place like this are traveling with only a few items and need to refresh their outfits.
I did not like that there was no secure place to put my luggage. If I put it in the shared closet it would be locked from 10pm - 11am. I needed to leave each day earlier than that, so I had to try and store my luggage upstairs in the dormitory, which was difficult to do without being in the way of other guests.
I also didn't like that the getting ready area (shower, sink, mirrors) is in the same room as the beds. People were coming in and making all kinds of noise and turning the light on until 1am, I barely got any sleep. Definitely don't recommend if you are a light sleeper or have more than a backpack.

I loved this guest house's vibe and feeling -- they were burning incense, had free tea and instant coffee, and were playing calm music downstairs. The lounge space with a table was perfect to doing a little travel planning and connecting with other travelers. I met so many great people here! Everyone was friendly, everything was clean and awesome. Haru helped me get checked in super easily and they were able to extend my stay. I liked how cold the room was at night, and it was super dark and safe and clean!
I was worried about there being only one shower and toilet for the 10 girl dorm, but it was totally fine! I wish there was more natural light in the room, but other than that, it was awesome!

Not social, bathroom has zero sound insulation, can hear people farting and blowing up the toilet.

It was very close to some restaurants. I ended up eating at one of those restaurants so I found it convenient.
You can hear people using the toilet and shower from the sleeping area. They are really close together.

I love that the shared room is on the ground floor! Makes it easier since I carry heavy luggages when I travel! Right next door is a convenience store! Very close by to a lot of restaurants as well as the bus station and train station! Pretty walkable!
I don’t know what it’s like during summer there, but I can imagine it can get really hot. Hopefully the air condition if provided will be good enough to relax the guests!

Wonderful
Super helpful staff. Hiroto san went out of his way for me to provide me the use of thir land phones for overseas phone calls I needed to make urgently at midnight. He pre-determined the cost per 3 minutes, I pre-paid for 30 min. then I was able to pay cash after the fact, for the balance owing as my business calls went on longer. This was so important for me to accomplish and thanks to the kind efforts of Hive staff, it was accomplished!
The location was further from Hakata station than ideal but that was okay.

Very close to Hakata Station! Easily walkable to most locations I went to while in Fukuoka.
The bathroom mirror is behind where you stand when in front of the sink. It's very hard to shave for example.
