It was beautiful. Check in took a little longer than most but because she showed us the hotel
I told the front desk the night before we were leaving that we would be leaving at 7 am in the morning and to not worry about breakfast. I wasn’t told anything about needing to stop by the front desk to check out and pay for our meal and room. I received a call at 11:35 am already almost four hours away while on the train from the hotel that I didn’t pay. I told them they had my card on file and to charge it. He told me I couldn’t and that I needed to come back and pay. I told him there was no way to catch a train the opposite direction than Tokyo for four more hours. He said he would have to call the cops and put a hold on my passport. Not what you should be told in a foreign country. I asked many times but there was a language barrier if I could pay over the phone. He said no must come back. Finally he talked to someone else and said we could pay via wire. So while on a train I had to wire money. The check out process should have been explained. I put my card on the counter during check in but she never took it

We love our overall experience. The hotel is beautiful and so is the view. Everything feels high quality and the staff are very friendly.

The hotel itself and the room was large and beautiful, the view at night was amazing. Staff are welcoming and kind, they moved all our luggage that was forwarded to them into our room and everything was placed carefully. Their shuttle bus service was great to have as well.
The room is a bit dated. The bathtub had paint peeling off, I think the bathroom door needs replacing as well. To me, for such a large space, too much of it was taken up by super large beds, and it under-utilises the space for other things that would be useful to guests, such as a microwave or an ironing board. I also didn't like that the toilet didn't have its own light switch, just an automatic sensor that would time out every minute or so.

The breakfast set is impressive! Well balanced and tasty. The twin beds are relatively small Pillows are too soft, the provided pajamas are too old & a bit stinky. Key card will be more preferred than key.

Lovely spacious room with well designed finishing and comfortable beds.
The men’s onsen was too hot to enter with a sign literally warning guests that the water was “too hot”. That is such a let down for guests who have limited time staying for only one night.

Wonderful
Super friendly and helpful staff! My room was quite large and even had its own terrace with a view over the city (the hotel is located on top of a hill, as the name suggests). Room service with delicious meals is available. Public path was very nice as well.
My only complaint was the location - it is located on top of a pretty steep hill so getting anywhere without a taxi/shuttle bus is quite a hassle.
