We'd had a long day, finishing up the Via Francigena to Vatican City, then to the hotel - over 20 miles of walking with full packs. So, we were tired and appreciative that there are real live people to check-in with, not lockboxes hidden away in who-knows-where. But that's not why you called. Our room was a triple that we were charged for as a double. So it was a large room, kind of oddly laid out with high divider walls between "rooms". It was clean, as expected, and had a small balcony. The price was a little on the high side at 440 euros for two nights (but in line with other similar hotels), but that's the big city for you. (But see my comments about dinner and breakfast.) As tired as we were, we decided to eat at the hotel's restaurant. It was a pleasant surprise - our food was very good and reasonably priced. To make it even sweeter, we were given coupons for 10% off and a free drink if we bought two. Breakfast the next morning was exceptional! I literally could not think of a single thing more I would want to see laid out. And delicious, too! As that was included in the the price of the room, it helped level out what we paid for the room. Consider that a similar breakfast elsewhere would have been at least 20 euros each, the hotel now seems like a bargain.

We thoroughly enjoy the diverse and flavorful dishes offered at the restaurant located on the premises. The culinary experience is elevated by the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the menu showcases a wonderful variety of options that cater to different tastes. The inviting atmosphere and attentive service further enhance our dining experience, making each visit a delightful occasion.
The room and bathroom were not worth the price we paid for our stay. The bathrooms lacked adequate space and could have been much cleaner. The bedroom felt cramped, resembling more of a closet than a comfortable accommodation. Additionally, the reception area was surprisingly small, which made check-in and check-out processes feel congested. Unfortunately, the staff did not exhibit a friendly demeanor, which may reflect a cultural difference in how guests are welcomed in Europe. Overall, our experience did not meet our expectations.
