Disappointing
To provide context, we chose your hotel specifically for its excellent location, which perfectly suited our short two-day itinerary in Rome. It offered convenient access to Villa Borghese and its museum, and put us within ideal walking distance of our favorite shops and boutiques on Via dei Condotti and Via del Babuino. The location itself was excellent for our purposes.
The staff were courteous.
*Incorrect Room Assignment: We specifically requested and were promised a city view. Instead, our room overlooked the adjacent Hotel Hassler, completely obstructing the expected scenery. *Severe Noise Disturbances: The room windows lacked proper soundproofing. We were subjected to disruptive street noise, including motorcycles and crowds. Most notably, the late-night / very early morning collection of glass bottles by the trash trucks made it impossible to sleep.*Lack of Room Darkness: The corridor light flooded our room through an uncovered window that completely lacked blinds or curtains, further disrupting our rest.*Maintenance & Cleanliness Issues: Upon arrival, we discovered insects inside the room. *Additionally, the shampoo dispenser head was broken and unusable. *Inadequate Amenities: The bathroom was poorly stocked with basic hygiene items, providing only four cotton swabs for two guests over our entire stay.*Misleading Breakfast Information: Through the photos online We had the impression that the breakfast area offered views of the Piazza di Spagna, which was entirely inaccurate. *The price charged had absolutely no alignment with the substandard quality of our stay.

Location was perfect. Breakfast offered was sufficient. Room had a great view, was very clean. The staff accommodated us for an early arrival without any difficulty and arranged for shuttle when asked. Very charming and romantic.
We were located outside the main hotel and around the corner in an adjacent building. Entering off of a side street. Once inside, you have to climb a few steep marble steps to get to an elevator ( very small). The room had a step down from the entryway near the bathroom so if you are not prepared for it you could easily trip going up or stepping down at night. Bathroom has no counterspace to put anything but maybe a toothbrush. If you want to go to breakfast have to go out and around the corner, inside the main building and up a steep flight of stairs to get to the dining area.

The women that provided breakfast were excellent. They went above and beyond they made everything wonderful and they deserve a raise. They work very hard and it shows. They couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating. I made sure to tip them every morning because I appreciated everything they did. It was well run, delicious and clean. They picked up the plates immediately. The ladies that run the breakfast, definitely need recognition for their dedication and hard work. They were so sweet and thoughtful.

We loved the history architecture of our 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom. The location was perfect and literally everything is right outside our door. The free breakfast was delicious and lots of choices. The shops, restaurants, and landmarks all around!
The only negative thing I can say is that there a lot of stairs you need to take since there is no elevator.

Location and staff were great. Room was very small, especially compared with our traveling companions who paid the same price for a room three times as large. Shower was tiny and extremely difficult to use. If you like quirky this is the place for you - entering your room from the street, needing three keys to get to your room, having a room with no right angles, and having an oversized step to get up to the bathroom might be charming to some, but not for us.

You don’t have to look for another hotel unless you are willing to pay at least double or even triple what you pay at this wonderful boutique hotel.
You are in the best location in Rome on top of the piazza D’Spagne where you can almost walk to all the attractions and enjoy the lovely restaurants and beautiful boutiques.
The staff are super helpful and friendly, including the owner who makes you feel at home.
The rooms are elegant and very functional with a super modern bathroom equivalent to a 5 star hotel.
We liked everything at this hotel and we highly recommend it .

We loved our stay at Hotel Scalinata Di Spagna! We were a group of three starting our 9 day Mediterranean cruise that had us starting 2 nights in Rome. We were upgraded (out of nowhere) to the BEAUTIFUL room 131 that has it’s on private terrace overlooking Rome. We came back to our room a little early each night to sit on our terrace and have drinks and just enjoy our views. Our bathroom was clean and nice, good size shower. Our room was very large with a comfortable king and the pullout bed was very comfortable as well. AC worked well. The hotel is right next to the Spanish steps and very walkable to Treva Fountain, Parthenon, and several landmarks. We also booked private van transfers from Rome Airport to our hotel, and then private transportation from the hotel to the Port of Civitavecchia - booked via Hotel Scalinata. It was very economical and comfortable traveling via Mercedes Sprinter vans. The owner checked us out on our last day and he was so nice and truly every worker there. If/when we come back to Rome, we will be staying here again and requesting room 131! I’d still stay here even if i didn’t have that beautiful room. Oh, and the breakfast is great. They serve scrambled eggs and bacon in addition to the Italian classic breakfast which is heavy on pastries and sliced deli meats. 1000000/10!!

Our room was in the annex building, which is on the piazza, while the main building was at the top of the Spanish Steps. We were in a corner room, so we had 2 balconies.
The hotel is in a great location surrounded by restaurants, designer stores, the Metro, a taxi stand, and a delicious gelato shop.
For breakfast we had to go to the main building and climb the steps (many) behind the Spanish Steps. But, no worries, we figured out quickly that it was easier to take the elevator at Spagna Metro and one small flight of stairs to get to the top. Also, the hotel gives you the option of bringing breakfast to you.

Great location- uniquely located at the top of the Spanish steps. Our room was large. Breakfast was wonderful.
Be aware that a taxi is needed for transport to avoid carrying bags up this historic landmark. There is an entrance from the other side of the monument.
