Beautiful location. Apartment was a great size for two people, kitchen very well equipped. The guy that did the breakfast service was very friendly. Lovely pool and gardens. Wish we could have stayed longer to take advantage of the nearby activities on offer!
There was only a 3 hour check in window at reception - I had informed them in advance that we would be arriving out of hours but had to chase up the check in instructions on the day we were due to arrive as I hadnt heard from them.

The scenery around the hotel was very nice, and the various facilities in the garden were well prepared, so it was very comfortable to stay. I was very satisfied because breakfast had to be ordered in advance the day before. I would like to recommend this as the best farmhouse hotel to anyone.

We learnt so much when we went on the EVO (olive oil) tour with Francesco which was an extra option during our stay. Views were amazing, especially at sunset.

Very good country house, located at a high site where you will be able to access the panoramic view of the Tuscany plain. Driving will be the most ideal way, but you could also take a taxi from Pienza and will take around 45m.
All in all, a highly recommended place. The owners are very friendly.

We really enjoyed our stay here as a young family. Our toddler loved exploring the wide open gardens and the two bedroom apartment had more than enough room to us to spread out in. The views are sensational and the property is only a few minutes from Pienza, where there are plenty of local shops, a supermarket and a kids playground. Breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed chatting with Francesco before heading out each the day.

We could not think about any single improvement point, every single detail in Il Macchione is taken care of. The location is unique, peaceful and without any other house nearby, you can really relax, rest and enjoy the nice views 360. We received the apartment as soon as we arrived, super clean, warm and friendly reception by the family hosts and the apartment had everything we needed, including a complete kitchen set, including a good selection of local wines to avoid buying them outside. The bathroom has high-quality local products for free (soaps, creams...) which can be later purchased at reception. There is a wide selection of local products to choose for breakfast. We also took a cooking class (pasta) onsite with a professional chef for all the family, which both the kid and us loved. Highly recommendable location to stay if you are visiting Val d'Orcia, and just few minutes away from Gladiator film real locations! We just missed using the beautiful pool with views of the valley because we had rainy days, we will have to come back!

Absolutely beautiful. Super historic building converted into accommodation. Pienza town centre a few minutes drive. Breakfast was great.

Location is great, very quite and also close to reach by car Pienza. The house is an old one, typical Tuscany style, with old furniture and well equiped. They also had great olive products local made.
The heating system had some issues.
