Don‘t get my evaluation wrong this is a suoerb luxury hotel with excellent service and rooms. But, … the misleading information about kids club and activities (not available in this Rocco Forte) much annoyed us, and we did not get any explanation or discount or upgrade, or even an apology. The beloved and frequent Trump gesture (thumbs up) of all restaurant staff was totally inappropriate. And the closeby shipyard is quite noisy 24/7, which they try to hide by omnipresent music, nothing that can be done about it but not optimal. Although optional, including 5% sercice charge on the full price, including restaurant bills that already included tips, is not common. At price levels like these, everything should be perfect.

Great location. Good views. Delightful and very well trained staff.
Bar prices are extortionate compounded by a 15% service charge in the bar and the dining room. When I mentioned this on check out all service charges were removed without complaint. That was impressive.

No later evening shuttle into town or back to the Villa. No Spa/Sauna?! And it's impossible to take a long soak in the bathtubs as they are topped by hard marble with sharp edges

From the moment I booked this trip to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday, until the day we left, it was a terrific experience.
I need to call out Francesco, the Concierge, who went above and beyond helping to arrange a private tour guide/car for a day; and a fishing excursion, and a car transfer to Taormina when we left. He also had excellent restaurant recommendations. Back and forth emails for a couple of months prior to arrival and then when we met him on site he continued to help us navigate our stay.
The whole staff was amazing! Welcoming. Remembering us when we came for breakfast, or drinks in the evening. We truly felt special and part of the 'family'. The service at Villa Igiea is overall the best I've experienced and I do stay at many 5-star/luxury properties. I am a Global Marketing Events Director for a major consulting firm and host VIP events all over the world. (Just so you know I have experience, ):-).Thank you for the royal treatment.
Our suite was spacious, tasteful, so comfortable. Always kept clean, turn down service, etc.
Additionally - the front desk honored my request for a French Balcony - and our view was spectacular.
Meals: All were wonderful, delicious, flavorful, fresh. We happily dined with you for every meal more than once, including a very memorable dinner.
Spa: Wonderful few hours being pampered by body treatments. it was heaven.
The only small 'con' is that the location is not walkable to downtown Palermo. But it is a very short Uber/taxi ride away (and the hotel has a shuttle, we just preferred to go places on our own timing) - and those services are easy to get/use..

Excellent staff. Very friendly and courteous. The restaurant waiters were top quality. The manicured gardens and view over the harbour were beautiful. Eating on the terrace was a lovely experience and the heaters made eating there in the evenings possible even in November.
The complimentary shuttle bus into the centre of Palermo was essential because there was nothing outside of the confines of the hotel to visit.
Being British, we enjoy our cup of tea first thing in the morning and late afternoon! Whilst the room had a kettle and tea bags, there were only coffee cups and no milk jug. Milk was provided on request and could be kept in the refrigerated drinks compartment. The coffee cups were not really suitable and once used often disappeared and only replaced upon request which was a bit frustrating. The hotel management might consider providing tea cups / fresh milk for UK guests.
Also, the TV channels had little of interest for English speaking guests - BBC World, CNBC, etc. - mainly news channels whereas there were plenty of Italian and German entertainment channels. Providing a smart tv to allow guests to stream channels such as Netflix via their mobile phones would be an improvement.

Just a little far from Palermo centre and that there was an automatic 15% surcharge added to our room everyday as a tip for the staff.
