I grew up with the idea that "Location, Location, Location" was the only thing (let's say "the one thing") that mattered. This hotel (Cristal in Palermo) has a good location. Period.
It needs lots of TLC, investments and ownership that is willing to take a 1978 hotel and bring it it into the twenty first century.
The rooms have that 90s' motel feeling that is ruined by the 90s' furnishings and 1978 bathroom (mold and all original from the 70s')

The location was close to everything we wanted to see and do. The breakfast was very good with plenty of options. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Internet was fast. The hotel is on a major boulevard yet surprisingly quiet, and windows did a very nice job of keeping out the street noise.
The bed was a bit noisy and the mattress a bit uncomfortable.

Friendly and helpful staff. Luggage drop-off and storage for early arrivals. Modern feel and quality of the facility. Hotel itself and our room was very clean, with daily housekeeping. SmartTV for access to all streaming services. There was a wonderful breakfast spread consisting of traditional Italian foods included with the booking. Staff arranged early morning taxi at the desired time to airport on the morning of our departure, with cost communicated at the time of scheduling. All in all, we were very happy with the hotel. As first time visitors to Palermo, the hotel and the staff's assistance was greatly appreciated.
Two minor complaints/inconveniences: 1) open (public) free wifi...be sure you have a VPN available to protect information and devices. 2) strict adherence to check-in times...if you arrive early, don't expect an early check-in.

We stayed for three nights and had a very pleasant experience. The location is absolutely fantastic – very close to everything we wanted to see, and we could easily get around on foot. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming.
The room was cleaned and the towels were changed every day. For us personally, this was actually more than necessary, but it certainly shows the level of care and cleanliness.
We also really appreciated the small fridge in the room, especially as there was water waiting for us when we arrived early in the morning. It was very useful throughout our stay, as we could buy water and other drinks at a nearby supermarket and keep them cold.
The breakfast selection was very good, with some really nice cakes and pastries. A particularly nice touch was the possibility to squeeze your own fresh orange juice – something we really enjoyed.
There was a kettle in the room for making coffee or tea, but unfortunately it didn't work when we wanted to use it. This was only a minor inconvenience and certainly not a serious complaint.
The breakfast was very good overall, although being in Italy I had expected perhaps a little more local character in the savoury selection – for example, more typically Italian bread and cold cuts such as mortadella. But this is more a personal preference than a real complaint.

Bon hôtel généralement, en rénovation( ancien ibis ) travaux durant la journée et nuisances sonores. Le staff est réactif et souriant. La chambre est propre et confortable. La location est parfaite.
Odeurs de nourriture dans le hall qui peut être désagréable par moment. Grande déception au niveau du petit déjeuner, ce petit déjeuner n’est pas de qualité et très peu de choix. Il n’est pas digne d’un petit déjeuner d’hôtel 4 étoiles.

The air conditioning worked, the room and bedding were clean. The location is great, within walking distance of most places in Palermo. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Great budget option.
The shower in the bathroom oddly had no door on it which made showering odd and the bathroom had no ventilation fan so it would get and stay steamy after a hot shower. Also was a bit loud some nights, bring earplugs.

We stayed here for two nights and were given a room on the 8th floor. The room had been freshly(not fully) renovated and had a modern look, similar to Ibis hotels. The air conditioning worked very well and was a lifesaver during the hot nights.
The breakfast was average but perfectly acceptable. The location is excellent, and both the room and the bathroom were clean.
The biggest downside was the noise. The hotel was undergoing major renovations during our stay, with drilling and construction work happening throughout the day. Even worse, the room doors had not yet been properly finished, and there were openings in the walls. Because of this, every sound from the hallway echoed into the room. In the evening, whenever someone walked by or made even a small noise, it sounded as if they were inside our room.
If a hotel decides to rent out rooms while an entire floor is still under construction, they should at least close off that floor and walls until the renovation is completed.

Overall, I had a pleasant stay at Cristal Hotel Palermo. The biggest advantage is its excellent location, with many of Palermo's attractions, restaurants, and shops within easy walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
That said, the room felt quite outdated and could benefit from renovations. I also noticed a small amount of mold in the bathroom, which took away from the overall experience. I did not have breakfast at the hotel, so I can't comment on the dining.
If you're looking for a convenient location at a reasonable price, this hotel is a good option, but those seeking more modern accommodations may want to keep the room condition in mind.

We loved our stay.cleaning staff are amazing, managers and front desk helped us (as always) it’s our go to hotel since 2021 and we kept staying here. Our room is perfect. We would love to come back again soon.
