Hotel was adequate, but just that. I was there on a tour and spent three days before so spent a total of 6 days. Location was great. Not having a staff that knew basic information regarding city and actually gave incorrect information was the biggest deficit.
Staff did not have any knowledge of city in terms of recommendations or directions.

Fantastic safe location just a short walk from key areas such as Piazza Giuseppe Verdi, Mercato del Capo, Piazza Politeama and Via della Liberta'. Good breakfast, friendly staff, spacious room and nice decor.
Staff were slow to take coffee order at breakfast, plus there were some signs of wear and tear in the room. No fitness facility or gym which may put off some visitors.

Due to American Airlines issues we arrived a day late in Palermo and I had to pay for a night I did not use. I was disappointed that the hotel didn’t offer me some kind of discount as it wasn’t my fault that we arrived a day late.

Breakfast was very good. Room was spacious. Parking worked out very well as we were able to park right in front of the hotel.

Location was in walking distance of historical center. Clean rooms with English TV. Breakfast space was limited and food was sparse. Some parking spaces out front for 15 euros per night.

They need a course in food safety. For breakfast when scrambled eggs were first put out they were near room temperature. Same over 4 days. Sharing the (turned off) electric chafing dish was refrigerator cold boiled eggs. I noticed also on 2 days only the floor near the door of my room was swept. Cheap sugary drinks rather than even frozen orange juice

The location was convenient, the bathroom was nice and the room was clean.
The hotel falsely advertised that the room has air conditioning. The room does not have individual air-conditioning and was extremely hot for the duration of the stay forcing us to keep the windows open which let in a lot of mosquitos and noise. There are renovations around the hotel and the workers start banging away early in the morning.
When the false advertising was queried at reception the receptionist (particularly inept lady with broken English [die tandmuis]) became rude and clearly irritated that I questioned why the hotel advertised air conditioning only to be told by her that there was no air conditioning. I took it up with the hotel but received no response from the hotel but was provided with a slight credit from booking.com.
The hotel masquerades it's dated amenities and rooms as "cultural". The hotel somehow manages a 4 star rating which is dubious at best. It is apparent on review sites that the hotel is unable to accept constructive criticism and is always defensive.
There are many far better, modern and better located hotels in the vicinity. Stay away from this Overlook Hotel.

I arrived early, and needed to find a laundromat. The front desk was kind, knowledgeable, and very helpful. I would say that they set the bar for a well-run, professional establishment. They took my bags, completed cleaning of the room, and moved my luggage to my room, where it was waiting for me upon my return.
The location is on a small side street, which originally looked dubious. But, it was not. In fact, it was located only 200 meters from a very vibrant part of Palermo. The side street location simply made it more secluded, and quieter. A wonderful property and a wonderful staff. I would stay here again and again.
My only complaint would be that since this is a Best Western property, they make this a little more obvious on the outside of the building. But, it is entirely possible that Italian customs and local policies do not allow this. Nevertheless, the hotel name was clearly marked, simply not the brand.
