Our stay at Villa Tolomei for my nephew’s wedding was extraordinary from start to finish. Everything—from the accommodations to the wedding venue—was impeccably handled with an attention to detail that made the entire experience seamless and unforgettable.
What touched us most was the care shown to my 87-year-old mother. My sister and her family arrived earlier in the week, and throughout their stay the staff watched over her with the kindness and attentiveness of family. That level of genuine hospitality is rare, and it meant the world to us.
The wedding itself was nothing short of magical. The cocktail hour, dinner, and reception were beautifully curated, with a setting that captured the timeless charm of Florence and the Tuscan countryside.
There was truly nothing to dislike—only gratitude for such a perfect experience.

This hotel is an absolute gem right outside of Florence. It's had to believe a 12 minute cab ride can take you so far into a different world. It has the genuine feel of a Tuscan Villa, but is still only a manageable (downhill) walk from the sites (and crowds) of Firenze. The hotel is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, but with views of Florence from the restaurant and pool. There was peace, quiet and beauty, but with convenient proximity.
The rooms were immaculately clean. The staff was beyond helpful, especially Daniel, who made sure our rooms were stocked with waters as we needed them. For your notes, our family split between one of the apartments and one of the regular rooms. I can't say enough good things about the apartment. They made up the two bedrooms as one king and one double, with a very comfortable and well-apportioned kitchen and living area. The standard room was huge for a European room, with views and actual air conditioning
The staff called cabs for us as we needed to go into town, and the cabs showed up within 5 minutes. One tip: If you're coming from Florence, walk across one of the bridges to the south side of the river before calling or haling a cab. It will save you 10 minutes and 10 Euros.
In summary, If you're looking for a place to stay in Florence but want peace, quiet, and a taste of the Tuscan countryside, this is your place. It was certainly ours.
Unfortunately, the pool was closed during our stay, so we weren't able to swim after a hot day in Florence. It should be up and running by mid to late June 2025. The breakfast wasn't the best we had on our trip, but was included and still very fresh and generous.

Location (outside of the city but I’m walking distance of some restaurants/bars. And the property itself was beautiful!! The pool was so nice to have!!

- pricy restaurant - unfortunately you cannot go to other places - you need to drive or take a taxi down town through the mountain roads.
- a lot of bees and mosquitoes every time we get into the room. See photos - we were unable to sleep well even though we made sure windows closed
- very super old - filthy air condition that smells bad and also super noisy.
- improper and cheap wall opening covers - looks like unfinished job.
- pricy restaurant with very limited menu items
- events hall attached to the restaurant with a lot noisy events. When this happens waitresses get busy and you can’t to talk with others because of the noise from the event next door.
- very basic breakfast buffet - the items take ages to refill.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS VILLA... We were worn out after three days in Roma, then three days in Venice we arrive by train into busy Florence and our taxi driver brings us to this beautiful oasis just outside the city... surrounded by olive groves and Tuscan countryside My wife actually cried upon walking around... it's so beautiful
