Disappointing
The location was very convenient to Florence. Nice views of the city and countryside. Room was large but had issues. Breakfast was good with a large selection of items.
The room we were given had a known plumbing problem, and they made an attempt to repair it before we checked in. The repair did not hold and it caused water to leak all over our bathroom floor, as well as through the walls and into a downstairs public space. There was no silicone between the tub and the wall so all water ran behind the tub and then out from under it. I notified the front desk and they gave me a few more towels for the floor. They finally had someone come out and they determined they would not be able to repair it until after we left. The shower head fixtures for the body spray were also all broken off.
The hotel also hosts larger events. During these events you do not have access to the restaurant/bar area. We were told about a wedding one night, but not about another event on the last night we were there. That night we were planning on eating in the restaurant, but could not as there was a formal event going on. Very poor communication overall.

Breakfast was delicious all of the mornings and extremely encompassing. Pool is really nice to relax by during the day. Overall location of the property and views from the property are extraordinary.
Some of the rules and property support is below par. For example, it's clear that guests need to shuttle or taxi into Florence city since the property is far from the city center. However, the shuttle stops running at 7 pm, which is WAY too early. Also the shuttle does not function on Sundays or Mondays because the manager is gone. This makes no sense. For a villa of these standards, there should be a more all-encompassing shuttle service that runs 7 days a week for 16-20 hours per day.

Foi tudo muito lindo! O hotel é uma pérola, com uma vista impressionante da cidade de florença. Cafe da manha exepcional, assim como o atendimento dos garçons da piscina e do restaurantes. Os quartos são legais. É muito perto do centro histórico, acredito que no inverno é possivel ir a pé tranquilamente.
Falamos do verão europeu, momento em que o calor é intenso e ainda é dia até às 22h. A Piscina fechava às 19h - e no caso, o ambiente ainda estava lindo, com por do sol incrível, mas tínhamos que sair até as 19h. Eu acho que a piscina poderia ter o seu período estendido. Tambem acredito que a descrição dos quartos precisa ser mais fiel ao que tem divulgado. No nosso caso, os quartos eram diferentes do reservados, a gente reclamou e eles trocaram em problema. O atendimento é muito bom.

Only the staff deserve praise because they did everything they could to please, but management doesn't allow it because the hotel is in need of renovation.

Incredible location and view. Quality amenities and service. Very quite. Quality high-end restaurant. Room and property was beautiful. 20 min taxi ride to downtown.

Location is perfect besides the fact that it is far from the city center. There is no shuttle bus offered by the hotel to go to the city center, you need a cab which costs around 20€ each way.
Despite the high price, they gave us a room that was adapted for disabled people (good thing it exists) but it was not functional for us, espthe bathroom where we couldn't not perform our personal needs. Besides that we asked some french fries for our child which was 10€ and they added 25€ as a change for room service and this was scandalous for us.

Villa Tolomei was a happy surprise for all of us when we arrived. The apartment was very spacious, clean and comfortable. It really deserves 10. The staff are great especially Dina who took great care of us when we were enjoying the great breakfast they offer.
A tiny advice,,to reach the location don't follow the GPS, follow the instructions they send you.
We will definitely choose no where else in our next visit to Florence.
No internet connection in the rooms in our apartment. But it is good to disconnect sometimes

Staff were so friendly and attentive. Daniel was so helpful and welcoming. As were the reception staff. So helpful getting recommendations. Food was beautiful and everything was so clean

Our stay at Villa Tolomei for my nephew’s wedding was extraordinary from start to finish. Everything—from the accommodations to the wedding venue—was impeccably handled with an attention to detail that made the entire experience seamless and unforgettable.
What touched us most was the care shown to my 87-year-old mother. My sister and her family arrived earlier in the week, and throughout their stay the staff watched over her with the kindness and attentiveness of family. That level of genuine hospitality is rare, and it meant the world to us.
The wedding itself was nothing short of magical. The cocktail hour, dinner, and reception were beautifully curated, with a setting that captured the timeless charm of Florence and the Tuscan countryside.
There was truly nothing to dislike—only gratitude for such a perfect experience.

This hotel is an absolute gem right outside of Florence. It's had to believe a 12 minute cab ride can take you so far into a different world. It has the genuine feel of a Tuscan Villa, but is still only a manageable (downhill) walk from the sites (and crowds) of Firenze. The hotel is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, but with views of Florence from the restaurant and pool. There was peace, quiet and beauty, but with convenient proximity.
The rooms were immaculately clean. The staff was beyond helpful, especially Daniel, who made sure our rooms were stocked with waters as we needed them. For your notes, our family split between one of the apartments and one of the regular rooms. I can't say enough good things about the apartment. They made up the two bedrooms as one king and one double, with a very comfortable and well-apportioned kitchen and living area. The standard room was huge for a European room, with views and actual air conditioning
The staff called cabs for us as we needed to go into town, and the cabs showed up within 5 minutes. One tip: If you're coming from Florence, walk across one of the bridges to the south side of the river before calling or haling a cab. It will save you 10 minutes and 10 Euros.
In summary, If you're looking for a place to stay in Florence but want peace, quiet, and a taste of the Tuscan countryside, this is your place. It was certainly ours.
Unfortunately, the pool was closed during our stay, so we weren't able to swim after a hot day in Florence. It should be up and running by mid to late June 2025. The breakfast wasn't the best we had on our trip, but was included and still very fresh and generous.

- pricy restaurant - unfortunately you cannot go to other places - you need to drive or take a taxi down town through the mountain roads.
- a lot of bees and mosquitoes every time we get into the room. See photos - we were unable to sleep well even though we made sure windows closed
- very super old - filthy air condition that smells bad and also super noisy.
- improper and cheap wall opening covers - looks like unfinished job.
- pricy restaurant with very limited menu items
- events hall attached to the restaurant with a lot noisy events. When this happens waitresses get busy and you can’t to talk with others because of the noise from the event next door.
- very basic breakfast buffet - the items take ages to refill.
