The property is beautiful- the ornate downstairs communal rooms and the pool area and the lovely gardens really have the wow factor. The poolside restaurant is also fabulous- fine dining in the evening was wow. Great drinks menu too.
We booked a double room for my partners birthday- instead of a double bed it was 2 singles mattresses pushed together with one sheet over the top. Really uncomfortable sleep and not at all romantic. The room was also in a small outhouse by the road, not in the main house - traffic noises and street lamp at night were not great and room was generally quite small and not very ornate like in the pictures. Not great value for 800 euros per night. Breakfast at an additional 38 euros per person was also pretty basic with no a la carte options included in that and old eggs, bacon etc sitting out. None of this ruined the stay but not up to the same standard as usual 5 star hotels in this price bracket.

Pleasant
The Villa itself is beautiful, with lush tapestries and furniture. Our room was spacious with a large window and bathroom. The pool deck and grounds were also stunning. The hotel is located in a neighborhood full of trees and flowers, and sits on the edge of the Boboli gardens. The walk into the center of Florence wasn't too bad but is pretty far when you find yourself a little past the city center in the evening. They do offer a shuttle service but I believe it ends at 8pm (and dinners in Italy usually start at 7pm).
For a five-star hotel, I didn't receive the service I had expected and had grown to expect from my previous stays at other five-star hotels. I appreciate the staff and the effort they put in on a daily basis, but I think there may be some service training opportunities here, though. A few issues during my experience that I will point out:
- Pool: The highlight of the hotel, in my opinion, is the pool. It took us longer than we had expected to find a way to the pool. Other reviewers mentioned this as well but we experienced it firsthand: towels and glassware were left on chairs and side tables, which were not cleaned up right away. Stain marks from drinks from previous guests could be seen on the side tables, which is a small detail that overall made the poolside feel "messy". No one greeted us at the pool, so we had to ask another guest where to find the chair towels. The pool is also "first come, first served", which was briefly mentioned in the arrival "onboarding", which really meant there weren't enough lounge chairs for every guest. If I am a paying guest, it shouldn't be so hard to find a lounge chair given there is ample poolside room. When the chairs were full, it seemed like some guests begrudgingly accepted the pool-side couches (not ideal for lounging), like we had done when we expected to spend a relaxing morning at the pool.
- Departure: We weren't acknowledged at first when we tried to check out. We sat in the lobby for about 15 minutes before we were helped. I was the main point of contact for the entire booking and communications, and the person that signed the final bill. During the entire stay, though, we were addressed by Mr. (we have two different last names). The cherry on top was as we were checking out, the concierge didn't acknowledge me and passed the receipt to my husband. I am not exaggerating. That was insulting.

Very Good
The service was incredible and perfect. The grounds and pool were stunning
We wish we were given a room on a higher floor for a better view of the city for our honeymoon, as we requested.

Disappointing
The pool area was nice.
The wiring in the room was faulty and we had lights that flashed and did not turn off all night, they could not fix them till the next morning as they said it would make too much noise for other guests.. as we endured a sleepless night with flashing lights. The gym is hopeless and has 5 floor matts, yet hasn't the space to open one up and lie down. The car park should have covered parking in my view to stop the cars baking in the sun. One member of the staff at the pool area was very rude and told me all the tables I was sat at were booked in 10 mins and they were full so they couldn't accommodate us for even one drink, I told her id move when they arrive- another colleague allowed us to sit, an hour later all 10 tables were still empty. It's a lovely building but the place needs an update. The reception isn't sufficient and has one very helpful lady sat alone on a tiny desk with her laptop. I've tried to upload a video of the flashing room lights but unfortunately it only allows me to upload photos.
