The heart of Florence! This was a fantastic place for our family. One giant room where the four of us slept comfortably.
The heat of Florence really took a toll on us and the room A/C units had a hard time keeping up. It was record high temps so maybe unusual.

Elevator is small so expect to use stairs a lot. Not a problem for my wife and I as we actually prefer stairs.

Good location with a view overlooking the plaza. You could hear the bustle of the people below by day with the sound of a violin echoing in the background. At night things calmed down, we really enjoyed our stay.

This room had maybe an above average size comparing to the other places we stayed in Italy. The location itself is pretty comfortable for first timers in Florence. You're really close by to the interesting places and is easy to come and go around the city.
The hotel has a library with a small bar where you can have a complimentary drink. While it looked really beautiful and impressive, it smelled very musty and our drinks weren't very good. We just stayed a few minutes.
Staff was ok, nothing extraordinary.
We didn't enjoy at all the downside of this location: the Plaza is completely full of informal vendors - even the small streets from the station to the hotel - so it's not a good ambience. It feels cheap, crowded and unclean.
The room felt a little run down, honestly. Such as: the doors needing paint and looking better overall, the open sink base in the bathroom was lose, you almost felt it could fall down or something, the bathroom door couldn't be locked from the inside... It's a very old hotel and it really feels like it.

The location was excellent, 5 mins from the Duomo, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast (located down the street about 2 mins away) was excellent.
The mattress was so hard that I experienced pain all 3 nights we spent there. My wife found the mattress hard, but it was not a problem for her. The room was freezing cold when we arrived. We visited Florence in January. We were told that the radiators come on in the morning and evening. One can heat additionally with an ac/heating unit in the room, but it took several hours to get our room to a comfortable temperature. The building really needs some renovation, but I realize this is very expensive when dealing with such an old building. The building certainly has character. The polished website does not correspond to the hotel. (See my photo below of the entrance to the hotel.)

Loved the location and proximity to all of the places I wanted to visit. You literally step outside and you're already where you want to be. I was just there for one day/night so had a lot to pack in!! The breakfast at La Menagerie was outstanding! I would go back to Florence just for their avocado toast-lol. The room was modern, very comfortable and had everything I needed for my first night in Italy. Enjoy!

Family suite was large with 2 bathrooms and a door separated 2 bedrooms. Having 4 adults it was perfect. It was very clean, beds were very comfortable and the history of the building was interesting. Great location and very nice staff
Our room had a jacuzzi tub. After filling it with water we found that the jets didn't work. This was disappointing after a long day of walking. But everything else was great so this was just a very small hiccup.
