I’ve stayed here many times. The hotel is elegant, the staff is gracious and helpful, the location is central. If the hotel is in your budget, I can’t think of a better way to anchor your time in Florence. If you are making a first trip to Florence and want to be charmed, you may want to dig a bit deeper into your pocket and stay here. It will reinforce all the other beauties of the city. Try coming off season. The graciousness of Florence is more evident then, and the rates in the Santa Maria Novella are more reasonable.

Beautiful property. Very well maintained. This was an excellent location - a very easy and quick walk from the train station. They have a beautiful breakfast.
A little expensive for the level of hotel. Property is more aligned with a sub $200/night. The bar is nice but not relaxing - felt too much like a club.

The location was very good. The hotel was lovely. The room was spacious.
The room did not have a nice view. Breakfast could have been improved maybe with a little more variety of proteins. Also there were often delays on replenishing scrambled eggs and bacon when they ran out.

Loved everything perfect location 5 minutes to train station but quiet and beautiful setting. Our room 309 had a perfect view of the front of the iconic church. The room was large and well appointed. The bathroom was large with ornate marble tub. The large windows had luscious billowing curtains, and open out in the European style The breakfast room was octagonal and mirrored with a solarium dome in the middle. There was a nice hot and cold buffet breakfast buffet. Security is present in the lobby which opens onto a public square so feels quite safe but the security guard is also just a quiet and gracious presence. The reception staff are amazingly helpful and we needed a lot of help as my husband's baggage had not caught up with us and there was medicine in it he needed. Turns out there is a 24 hour doctor's office around the corner. Easy walk to all the main sights: Duomo, Academia, Ponte Vecchio etc. All the restaurants we happened upon in the neighborhood were superb each in a different way. There is only one caveat. Don't stay here if you are mobility impaired in any way. There are stairs everywhere and they are very easy to misjudge and fall on. Three private "palaces" were combined into one hotel and all seem to have different floor levels. If you like the twists and winds and levels as we did you will love it.
Just watch your step on the many stairs and landings and look to see where the elevator goes before getting on it.

The property was beautifully decorated. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious. We had a huge marble bathtub. That was amazing! The assortment at breakfast was also very good. The property was very close proximity to the train station and to the center city.
