The location of the hotel was amazing. Perfectly central and easy to walk to everything. No need to book a taxi, there are restaurants, shops, etc. everywhere around it. Easy walk to Duomo and uffizi.
No AC in winter so room was very warm without window open (no screens). We slept great but did crack our windows every night. Being an old hotel and we were on the 3rd floor we found the room very stuffy without doing this.

I’ve stayed here many times. The hotel is elegant, the staff is gracious and helpful, the location is central. If the hotel is in your budget, I can’t think of a better way to anchor your time in Florence. If you are making a first trip to Florence and want to be charmed, you may want to dig a bit deeper into your pocket and stay here. It will reinforce all the other beauties of the city. Try coming off season. The graciousness of Florence is more evident then, and the rates in the Santa Maria Novella are more reasonable.
