Exceptional
Room was very very cozy, well designed to make use of a very compact space, with beautiful personal touches like nautical photos above the headboard, and nautical knots as backgrounds on the shelving. I loved it!! The single room was small but curling up in bed after arrival, it really feels like such a cozy place. The ocean view was great and so pretty - big work boats and textured hills across the water.
Lobby is beautifully designed as well. Restaurant and bar hours really good. Bar is open late. Many seating areas to relax, at least in winter which is low tourist season. Restaurant is quite fairly priced in my opinion, for the quality of food. It is not crazy expensive like I expected. (The Starbucks down the street on the other hand is crazy expensive.)
Staff are all very friendly and helpful. I haven't experienced any negative customer service in Iceland during my short stay.
Rain shower is amazing and I loved it. The handheld shower is very high pressure which I really love as well. The bathroom is small but I have lived in places with tinier bathrooms. This is a very high quality bathroom as it's small but has everything at top quality.
In winter, the hotel should really really consider hiring people to clear the snow on the street both in front and behind the building. It was really difficult dragging a checked suitcase through the thick snow slush. Every 10-20 steps, I had to brush off the show built up at the bottom of my suitcase, for it'd stop moving. You enter the building from behind, and I didn't know, so I dragged my suitcase across the entire building on the street side, and then had to do it for another half length of the building on the backside. Leaving the hotel was just as difficult. It made arriving and departing the hotel very unpleasant and worrisome.
If you look around, all the other sidewalks to the east of this hotel had been plowed. Other hotels very nearby, like Exeter, their sidewalks are plowed clean, no slush, just clean sidewalk surface. There's really no excuse to not clear (plow and salt, if they salt the streets in this country) the sidewalks for such a big hotel. Everybody has to struggle with their luggage through the snow.
My room's shower leaked a river of water into the hallway. You can tell this has happened before, because a few of the floor tiles were peeled with water damage. Next day I reported this and the staff seemed well aware. So I asked for an extra towel to help me mop it up the second night. It was agreed, but an extra towel was not given to my room. Instead, the small face towel was removed, so I didn't even have a towel to wipe the sink counter. That was a disappointing promise not fulfilled.
Tip for using the shower - aim the handheld high pressure showerhead at the inner wall, not at the glass wall panel. So like, stand against the solid wall. Then you won't have any leakage under the glass wall!!! I did that the second night and didn't have anything to mop. The first night, I stood against the glass wall, and that's how all the water leaked into the hallway. I mopped and wrung out 3 times...

This hotel was just a 2–3 min walk from bus stop #15, where most tours pick up and drop off. This is also a stop for Airport transfers! We visited in the winter, so that short walk was truly a game changer, not having to stand around in the cold for long made a huge difference. It’s also close to plenty of restaurants and a grocery store (about a 5–8 min walk). And as the name suggests, it’s right on the waterfront.
The hotel has a large reception area, along with facilities like a theatre and multiple lounge spaces. I especially liked the restaurant in the lobby! After a long day of tours, it was great to have good food without needing to head back out. Breakfast was also good for the price, with a wide variety of options.
The staff were always helpful whenever we had questions. Especially on our last day when there was a snowstorm and needed to rebook our Airport bus to an earlier time because of poor road conditions.
Main attractions like Hallgrímskirkja, Rainbow Street, and popular bakeries like Sandholt and Brauð & Co are about an 18–20 min walk away. You can also take the bus, but the intervals weren't as frequent. It would be a great walk in any season, except winter!
The shower design could have been better, since there’s no door or curtain, water easily splashes out and floods the bathroom floor. We had to be pretty mindful while showering to keep the water from getting everywhere.
The beds were also noticeably on the firmer side. That said, after long days of tours, we were tired enough that we still slept well.

Close to a lot of things. Clean.
From the bus stop it was difficult to find the entrance. The alley it was off of was not clearly marked and in the early morning looked really sketchy.

An amazing hotel, once you find the front door. This hotel was a former slipway building (or something like that) and the adaptive refit has been excellent. The lobby /bistro /lounging areas are amazing, as are the quirky rooms.
The only items that we found frustrating in our family room (with amazing king-sized bunk) were the very small showers ...with shower curtains (which could easily be fixed taking space from the oversized WC area, and the chipboard vanity cabinetry needed replacing (with something better).

Modern hotel with great areas for reading and relaxing. Walkable to the main are of town. Close to good food. Finding close parking was really easy.
If you get a room on the side that is next to the road it is incredibly loud.

The staffs at front desk are super nice. The lounge is cute and there’re lots of facilities. They have good style inside the hotel. Also, their body wash products are from L'Occitane, which I like
The front door is in a little alley so took some time for us to find it (google map didn’t shows) And the windows are not very soundproof.(streets sound are loud)

The view and atmosphere
There’s no hotel parking, but there is some local street parking so that was a plus but it would’ve been nice if there was a personal parking.

It’s ideally located at the Old Harbor, within walking distance of most attractions. The harbor is also the main meeting point for many aquatic activities, such as whale watching, and the area is surrounded by excellent restaurants and charming bakeries.
Bus stop 15 is the one you'll use when booking other tours (Golden Circle, South Coast, etc)
