Nice peaceful location, close to the National Park entrance for Safaris. Lodges are situated adjacent to a mango grove where many birds can be seen in the trees. The on-site guide was very helpful in assisting us when bird spotting and took us on a walk through the mango grove to do so one afternoon. The lodges are clean and everything works within them, but they are somewhat dated and in need of a spruce up.
When booking through this site processes are supposed to be smooth. Sadly this place ensures it is anything but. They send you a WhatsApp message asking if they can book safaris for you etc which all sounds good, but the trail that leads you down is inflated prices, a 3rd party website for credit card payments and requests for document copies over WhatsApp (not secure but sadly so common in India). After booking the safaris we were hassled over WhatsApp for payment for the lodge stay stating our booking wasn’t confirmed until we did and that we couldn’t pay when we arrived - laughable as they had booked safaris for us and when we arrived there was a fully fledged check in desk where we could have paid! I should add that this request for payment was also 3rd party and carried additional fees. As an international traveller I would recommend booking through a local agent in relation to the lodge and for safaris directly through the government of Gujarat website or via a local contact. At least that way you’d save some fees and hassle.

We liked the staff. All were very friendly, courteous and helpful. In particular, the birding guide Amit was very helpful in showing us birds and local birding locations.
Some shelving e.g for toiletry bags would have been useful.

Great Location and Amit the guide is just great! You have to have him accompany you on the safari, as apparently each time he goes along, you see lions. We did see lions very very close, walking by the car, which was amazing! And Amit showed and sent us many more pictures and videos of birds and lioness, baby lions and male lions. Thank you sooo much! Furthermore he is an excellent bird guide, knows everything about birds. We were impressed.
The restaurant could be a bit more cozy for a romantic get away.

The lodge was large and very comfortable. The bathroom had a great shower. The restaurant served good food and the staff were very good. We took a safari which was amazing. We had a wonderful time at Gir Birding Lodge.I would highly recommend
Booking.com says that there are no ensuite bathrooms, this information is wrong

Best part of the lodge is its location. It's located just adjacent to the Gir National Park. Hiran river is also nearby. The resort is actually located inside a mango orchard amidst lush greenery.
