This is a charming place to stay and explore Pondicherry. It has all the comforts and cleanliness you would want but without the charmlessness of a bigger hotel. The staff are incredibly warm and friendly - I felt as though I was staying in the large and well-functioning home of a relative. The breakfast, food and cocktails were lovely and well-priced.
I spent a lot of time just relaxing in the villa and I got a lot of writing done. However, because the villa is so well located it was very easy to get to other restaurants and shopping - a restful oasis in the middle of it all.

Villa Helena has a lovely vibe to it! Good location. Note Promenade beach is close by however, you can't swim there. Too dangerous. Really happy with our stay. The decor is great. Very comfortable. Definitely would stay again.

Very quaint old colonial mansion right in the center of White Town. Great breakfast and very spacious room.
The property is definitely run down so don’t expect hotel style luxury.

The location was excellent, close to multiple eateries, the beach and ashram. Loved the old world charm of the place.
We had booked 2 rooms. The room on the 1st floor was comfortable and very spacious. However, the room on the lower floor looked a bit shabby with a crack across the floor and paint peeling off the walls.

The food was brilliant! It was fresh and tasty. The hospitality was the best again! The guys working at the restaurant were very very kind. The owner Helena is a very generous person ready to help you . The boutique was also a top notch for shopping.

Heritage building in the French area, quiet at night, with beautiful courtyard and spacious rooms. The restaurant was well managed and food tasty but plenty of other restaurants nearby. Croissants for breakfast and cafetiere coffee were a treat. Beds were clean and comfortable.
The hotel manager was away the whole time we were there, so we were not welcomed with a drink or checked in at all. Restaurant staff were doing their best at holding the fort, but be aware that it is a separate business. The hotel is striving to be authentic to the point of scruffy and even unhygienic - no linings or lids to the bins, damp patches on walls and ceilings with paint flaking off. Ultimately, it was overpriced for the quality of accommodation and service.

This charming hotel located right in the center of the coastal town is everything you ever wanted. The rooms are Beautifully decorated, very clean and spacious. The garden is luxurious. The staff is extremely nice and discreet! We had the best stay of our trip. And the restaurant was also great with a large variety of pizza or other delicious dishes. They can also organize massages for you in your room on a professional table. Soooo relaxing.

La Villa Helena is an absolute delight for anyone looking for comfort, elegance, and relaxation. From the moment you step onto the property, you are greeted by a beautiful garden and a peaceful atmosphere that feels like an escape from the hustle of India.
The rooms are spacious, impeccably clean, and very nicely decorated, offering charming local touches. The beds are very comfortable and the attention to detail in the design makes the room feel very special.
I enjoyed everything, the staff was amazing and so helpful, and the food at the restaurant was excellent. I recommend trying the cocktails and the Halloumi sandwich, there were absolutely delicious !

My sister and I shared the T1 room on the second floor. We stayed 6 nights total. It was spacious and beautiful, combining French romanticism and simplicity with the poetic artistry and craftsmanship India is unrivaled in. I highly recommend and would come back again.
