The breakfast was authentic northern Indian items, coffee/chai eating family style with other guests. It was nice to meet other travelers. We appreciate how understanding and very helpful the owner was when some in our group fell ill and needed to remain in bed more. Have a late check out to rest. We had two lunches prepared by the chef which was excellent and delicious. Recommend!
Loud in the streets with construction noise but this is typical in India. The lodging grounds have beautiful garden plants, several seating areas, and is very peaceful! Lovely accommodations for foreign and domestic guests.

We truly enjoyed our short stay in The Bougainvillea B&B on the way to Dharmsala. The host and all the staff are very friendly and helpful, the room was large and comfortable for three of us. The Golden Temple is a must-see experience and Punjabi food very tasty. Our host Miss Payal recommended an excellent driver Mr. Raman who took us around.

This review refers to room 5 and 6 in the garden area.
The hotel claims on the listing to accept international credit cards, but this is now the 4th review since Feb 2024 which shows that they don't. Please do not book if you don't have cash. You will have to go to the ATM and pay the commission. This caused the owner and me ongoing issues, which I don't wish to go into details here.
The distance stated to key attractions are not accurate. You will require transport to the Golden Temple etc.
Cleaning of room needs to be better. Dead insects inc cockroaches left after the room was apparently cleaned. Despite leaving keys in the morning the rooms were not cleaned on our return.
Communication between Owner and Hans is not great. Informed owner about leaving at 6am and the gate was shut! Luckily found another exit or would have missed the flight, and this is despite calling Hans to open the gate
Wardrobes are not so clean, with very old newspaper to line the shelves . Cobwebs on bed frames. Rooms just didn't feel clean.
Room 6 bathroom has awful smell.
You will be better off booking rooms towards the front of the property which seem to be better maintained

We went to this property in 2020, so thought we will stay again. But it was a horrible experience.
Rooms did not have water, when asked for water in night the caretaker said, pls go and fill it from the office. We did that on our own and the water din taste good to us
There was no toiletries as such. Just one dental
Kit, when pointed out why just 1, the owner was like we only keep 1. And to tell you in advance, we paid for double occupancy
The shower was not working properly. We had to fill water through shower in bucket to bathed bcoz even the tap was not working.
Everything. The owner was very rude. So we had to be in town again and we paid her advance for the same. When I pointed out the problems, she got very angry at 7:30 in morning and asked me take the advance back.
I asked her, is this the way you handle things? She was point blank, to take advance back - in short asking me not to come back again.
The caretaker was rude too. Like din know how to manage things well.

Hans who seemed to do everything was excellent and very welcoming. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The bed was comfy. The area seemed safe and a cheap tuk tuk ride to the Temple. Many places to sit outside.

It's an awsome property in the mid of the city. Host is very warm and same the staff members.
Would have got a first floor room, would have been great. Although, this room was also very good.

The property is right in the city but yet very quiet… the host Mrs. Payal mad sure that we had an amazing experience.. the food was top notch and everyone was helpful… the property is very beautiful and has amazing corners that you will enjoy in the indoors… it’s a must visit stay in Amritsar

Near a main road but far enough away so that you don’t hear anything
