The hotel staff were kind and friendly. But what stood out most is the night manager, Rahul. What a kind and wonderful person he is. He spoke excellent English and was easy to understand. He helped me so much and made my stay at Amritsar and Hotel Malhotra a memorable and comfortable experience.

Incredibly convenient location, lots of food nearby and short walk to the Golden Temple and the lovely pedestrian area. Lots of space in the room.
Cleanliness could be better, and upper floors are only via steep stairs—no elevator.

We were put on the third floor which was not what we expected and they had no alternative. Very big steps.
Unclean, stained bed sheets.
Despite asking to clean was not done.

This hotel really hits the spot on location being just a few minutes from the Golden temple. Also, quite next to the middle of the shopping area. Apart from that, it offers a "resonable" review on staff, cleaning, breakfast and amenities.
To me, the lack of payment by card is a turnoff (when you think about it, you're paying quite a lot in ruppees, so that shouldn't be an excuse for the tax interest). Most of the ATM's around the hotel go cashless very fast as you're in the city center so make sure you have enough money on you...
Also, there's no lift in the building of 4 stories, behare of this if you're staying above the second floor (I stayed on the third).

Location as it is just walking distance to Golden Temple and market.
Rooms are quite compact and there is no ventilation. Cleanliness is another concern property being very old

Close to the Golden Temple. Friendly staff. Lots of stairs but you soon get used to it although I guess it depends which floor you’re on!
