Disappointing
Good restaurant.
I did not get the room I booked a month in advance. There are few different managers and two (Maya and Ray of Maya) hotels under their management. It was a mess. So I booked a suite with renovated bathroom and ended up in dirty small double room with stinky bathroom ( they gave me a discount though).

location. convenient to go around and look for restaurants.
the room is dusty as if nobody maintained it. Was surprise when someone cleaned the room and by watching him using the same dirty mop from toilet and into the room. I dont even see any single cleaning powder or some solution to really clean it.

Disappointing
Location was good. A few minutes walking from the Taj West gate. Staff was polite.
It started with a disappointment. I was allocated a different room and not the one that I had booked. The room was smaller, clumsy and not at all what I was looking for.

Poor
It is within 100 meters from the West gate which is the entrance for the general public. There is a restaurant available, though the price is obscenely high. Other than this there is nothing to write good about the property.
Old and poorly managed property. Everything from the doorknob, to the water tap, flush, the window is broken and not repaired. Menu for any food, water is exorbitantly priced. For example, 1 liter of water bottle costs Rs 35 in the restaurant below when 2 liter of Bisleri or Kinley costs Rs30 a mere 20 feet from the restaurant. The cost of 2 boiled eggs is Rs95 excluding taxes. Stay clear of this establishment.

Wonderful
A few things were out of the ordinary good in this place: 1. Staff was extraordinary friendly and helpful! They organized a tuck tuck for a day trip and a taxi to go to our next stop in the north, explained about hot water system, changed money, called our next hotel. Thank you very very much!!! 2. The location is perfect for Taj Mahal. A short walk in the morning and we were there. 3. It is very quiet which is a great bonus in India, if you know what I mean. 4. Hot water and nicely decorated rooms (it was the only hotel in India where we had a magnifying mirror!!! Thank you). 5. Guests have a discount at the restaurant across the street which is quite nice. 6. The driver, whom the hotel arranged for us, was THE BEST!!! Small advice for travelers: if you want something - ask! I'm sure you will get it here.
Just a few minor points we had issue with: 1.One of the rooms (we had two) had an odd looking shower,,, the shower in the other room was excellent modern and clean. The owner said he is going to change the old shower units soon. 2.The pillows were too hard to out taste. 3. Our friend didn't find the restaurant menu very exiting (she was looking for European dishes, and found a very small choice)
