Location is excellent, really great pubs and restaurants for food and drink on the doorstep!
Staff are extremely friendly, the Irish girl that checked us in had a great welcome for us.
The place was very clean throughout.
The cost. It was over €130 more expensive than another good hostel in Galway with a similar private double en-suite that we booked for 2 other nights during race week too. It wasn’t justified I’m afraid. Also you have to factor in another €30-€40 for parking when staying for 2 nights/3 days.

Close to city centre, easy to walk around
We stayed for three nights in a private room with an en-suite bathroom. Coffee capsules were only provided for the first night, and we were surprised to find no hand towels in the room. Cleanliness was also an issue, as we noticed quite a bit of hair on and around the bed - the receptionist was nice and called housekeeper fast to fix it.
Additionally, the toilet fan was extremely noisy for the small room - so loud that we initially thought it was an external machine running outside…

checkin was straightforward.
kitchen is well equiped
- taking up any suitcase up the narrow stairs, while opening the pull doors is a hassle. for rooms on second floor especially
- (july 2026) there is a construction site right outside: pick-axe when i checked in(17:00), whirring and buzzing from tools from 06:00 in the morning!
- 10 bed mixed room feels crowded at full occupation, with luggage etc
- 3 tiered bunk beds have slim and far apart handrails, stuff can fall very easily out of bed, from quite a big height on 3rd tier. lowest tier are basically sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

The room was a bit cramped BUT it’s a hostel, not a hotel. Would have benefited from a fan in the room though.

I didn't like that I slept in a triple bunk, when I didn't expect that at all. It was a tight room. Overall, it was still a great stay.
