Exceptional
I loved the location, Dublin was very walkable from the hotel which was great. The room was perfect and had everything we needed. We absolutely loved this stay and will definitely stay again.
Let me preface this by saying this is not a con for me, nor is this something I didn’t like. But this may be a con for others: there is no front desk or someone working. You’re given a code for the doors but if your phone isn’t working, it could be a little complicated. But through no fault of the hotel. This is just something you should be prepared for. Check your app or make sure you can pop in somewhere to get wifi quickly. Because honestly this hotel is a must stay in my opinion.

Great location and really secure. Bed and pillows were really comfortable and the room itself was awesome.
Took a bit to work out all the light switches

The room was clean.
We didn't like that fact that it was a no contact motel, basically. The website made it sounds like someone was going to be there. The worst part was the loud drumming noise from 3:30pm-1:30am NEVER AGAIN. EVER.

Good
We were in the Oscar Wilde Suite and the room was incredible. It was nicely updated and the bathroom was very modern. The towels and ammenites provided were as expected for what I understand to be the nicest room in the hotel.
The description of the room said in included a King size bed, but this was a Queen size. Four flights of narrow stairs to get to our room was a bit more than we bargained for, as our travels had our legs and feet in quite the state of fatigue. We found what looked like a coupon provided for breakfast to The Cappuccino Cafe with a description of breakfast choices and coffee, but when we arrived at the cafe they said the card was good for 10% off. That was disappointing. The description should have been more clear.

Poor
Jayne the housekeeper was excellent. She had beautiful personality and was very helpful.
Did not get the codes to get into to the hotel before we left San Francisco. They came in while we were in flight and we had no way to access the codes until the employee at the store next door was able to get us internet access. There is NO elevator and we had to drag our bags up several flights of narrow stairs. We were able to finally connect to the hotel wifi but it was spotty and unusable for a good portion of our stay. The hotel is in Temple Bar which sounds alright until you have large groups of 20s and.30s year old going up and.down the street obviously drunk and very boisterous during the early morning hours. We also saw numerous homeless asleep on the street the hotel was on, and even saw open drugs use on our street. One homeless woman even threatened to rob my companion. To sum up it was overpriced and in a not so good area of town. The only saving grace was the housekeeper Jayne who was extremely helpful. She changed the sheets and towels daily and recommended places to.go to find things like fresh orange juice. Don't waste your money on the Merchant House Hotel

The location was in the heart of the Temple and Market districts. Perfect for walking to dinner, music and shopping. Also walking distance to the train and dart.
The stairs! We had the most beautiful room, and unfortunately had large bags from our moto trip prior. It was a feat to get the bags up the narrow stair well. No elevator available.

Wonderful
Room Layout and size, very clean and comfortable. It was also in a nice location and we really liked the lady who cleaned the property. Wifi and extras like water and coffee we very appreciated.
Perhaps better towels (bigger and softer) and two more towels would make if better it nicer. We would / will consider booking here again, especially if we can get a better rate next time. Thank you!

Great central location right in the heart of Dublin
A little stuffy but it was Hot that week. Parking is confusing and not super close. Google maps made it harder than it needed to be I assume.

Wonderful
We really enjoyed our stay in Dublin, and the area the Merchant House was in. Close to the action, but high enough above to lose the noise. very clean and comfortable room, the mini fridge well stocked with reasonable priced beverages...Guinness of course. Was a very comfortable place to stay when time for some resting up from all our sightseeing and the 12k steps a day. speaking of steps, being on the top floor was wonderful, just the climb there was a chore. but thats on me, I could be in better shape! Many thanks for a lovely stay in Dublin!
