We returned form an evening out and found ourselves locked out until the porter arrived.

Hotel was nice we just needed a stop over for one night which was really handy just off the motorway and surprisely quiet for being so close to the motorway, food was nice and the staff where excellant

Plenty parking on site
Did not accommodate a request for a 1 hour later checkout.
Property is very dated.
Damaged main room door at the lock area did not inspire confidence.
Damaged windows and poor soundproofing made early morning traffic noise wake us.
Everything was very basic. Expected more for the price of €189 per night

The girls in the reception were really nice and easy to deal with, and the bar man was also really friendly.
The night porter if that's what he was could have been nicer when my friend asked for a drink from the bar, I myself don't drink and was not looking for one but he really could have been nicer about it, not that this review will make much difference.

Location and disabled car parking
Service at dinner was nonexistent. Was not asked if we wanted more drinks, dessert. Order was wrong and long wait to put it right while rest of the party were eating. Vending machine not working. Long wait for refund. No acknowledgement by staff on reception.

Beautiful old hotel in a quiet location. There was a wedding event on one evening but you'd have hardly noticed. The rooms were quiet if not a little warm but overall clean with friendly staff keeping the bins empty and clean towels topped up. It's a personal thing but I rate hotels on their showers and Lucan did not disappoint. High pressure and easily adjustable made it feel like you had your own personal spa in your room. Ideal for the hot and sticky weather.
It's my own fault for not requesting something different but I got a room that was a bit of a trek. This is quite normal as I expect most business guests prefer to be away from the hubbub of the front of house.

Close to bus, very helpful front desk and bar staff, comfortable bed, nice cotton sheets, clean environment.
We didn't know there was a menu option for breakfast until our last night, so feel we missed an exceptional breakfast each day. Manager was receptive and apologetic, but unfortunately still our disappointment. Some things, like the shower, show signs of age and need attention.
