My stay at this property exceeded my expectations by far. I know Ireland very well—I lived here for several years—so choosing this place was a conscious decision, although I didn’t expect such a high standard.
That made the experience even more positive. Everything was excellent: great location, tasteful design, and impeccable cleanliness. The room was prepared with attention to the smallest details—comfortable bed, clean bathroom, water provided, complimentary snacks, coffee machine, tea, and a hairdryer. You really don’t need anything more.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, which made the stay even more enjoyable. And the breakfast—spectacular. Truly worth the price, with a wide selection and an additional complimentary continental set that makes a big difference.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Ireland.

I didn’t have breakfast.
The location was great and so close to amenities.
I would have liked to be able to make another cup of tea in my room!

The location was perfect. The rooms were fine and comfortable.
The hotel has an unusual layout with several sets of stairs between areas, which may be worth noting for anyone with mobility concerns or heavy luggage.
Unfortunately, my television was not working during my stay. The room was also missing some basic amenities such as conditioner, moisturiser, or a standard vanity kit, which I would normally expect.
I also found staff availability to be somewhat inconsistent. On one occasion in the evening I had left my key at reception, and when I returned at around 9 pm to collect it there was no staff member present, meaning I was unable to access my key for a period of time.

Beautifully restored Georgian property. Very central, but backs onto Iveagh gardens, so a morning coffee in the garden is refreshingly peaceful. Felt almost rural.

I had never been to Ireland before, so it’s difficult for me to compare with other hotels in the country. But compared, for example, with French or German hotels, this one feels luxurious in terms of value for money.
I had a single room with a huge double bed, six pillows (!) and a very thick duvet. If you don’t open the windows, it can actually get quite warm under it – but for people who tend to feel cold, that’s pure happiness :)
I was also pleased to find one European-style power socket in the room, conveniently located, so my adapter for British/Irish sockets was hardly needed.
The room had many charming little touches: a retro radio playing calm music on FM, a large bottle of drinking water that was regularly refilled, and – attention! – daily housekeeping.
As for the décor of the hotel and its common areas, like the lounge or the bar, it feels almost like something from the time of Louis XIV (or whoever the Irish equivalent might have been!) – stylish, beautiful, and quite grand. The staff were also very kind and always eager to help immediately.
As for the drawbacks, there were very few. Perhaps the only minor issue was that the towel warmer had a rather mysterious way of turning on, and the hotel technician managed to fix it only the next day, so the bathroom (in early March) was quite chilly.
The shower was not particularly convenient either – there was no flexible hose, more of an “American-style” setup – but it was still manageable.
And the hairdryer only worked if you kept the button pressed with your thumb the whole time, which isn’t very convenient (what if I were a Martian with only four fingers?) :)
