This is the most inconsiderate hotel we have ever stayed in. We arrived to find that the room facilities were not as described on Booking.com with the most unhelpful receptionist stating “yes it needs updating and besides there are no other rooms available ” . We got to our room and the door entrance was being decorated, they got us there under false pretences as had they told us the door to our room would be covered in stinking wet paint we would never have booked. Early the following day, when heading to breakfast we almost tripped over the painter on his hands and knees outside of our room! We expected to meet John Cleese in the lobby! During the night I had an asthma attack due to the strong vapour from the paint which filled our room. Update day 2, spoke with the manager this morning after being blockaded into our room by a small army of decorators at 7.30am, see photos, the manager said they should not start until 9.00 but didn’t seem to realise it was up to him to do something about it. He also took my details to report this to “ head office” as he could not do anything about it? It looks to me like head office could save some money here. This whole place is shockingly bad.
The leadership in this place is truly appalling. Customer service is appalling and totally inconsiderate. AVOID THIS HOTEL!

Breakfast was full of so many good things.
Bed was very comfortable and bathroom was pretty. I had I had a view of the church and loved the bells chiming every hour and the pealing bells on Sunday morning. Super locations. We walked to everything!
They were painting my hallway and the smell was awful. No ventilation in the hall. I was able to open my room window and get the fresh air in so the room didn’t smell of paint. A fan or a room with the door and windows open might have helped.

The location was terrific
It did not have any air and they did not let people know that. Many people were upset as we would have cancelled ahead of time. It was so hot and uncomfortable

Location
No air on and not informed before booking. Arrived to find carpet being laid as we exited the lift. Shoes stuck, trouble getting to room. Room so hot we had to open window then woken every hour to the church bells and road noise and people shouting (not your fault but if air con was working we wouldn’t have had to have the window open) Banging early morning where fitters had returned to continue fitting carpet.
