Amazing location, super friendly staff, exactly what I needed
Walls in the room were banged up a bit and the toilet had issues fully flushing but only minor things

The location was amazing!
We had a room on the 3rd floor and it was ridiculously hot. It was slightly understandable on the first day as it was hot outside and the bedroom windows only opened a small way. But the following two days the temperature outside dropped but it stayed unbearably hot in the room. The fan provided did not help. The heat was so uncomfortable we were unable to sleep very well at all.

Everything fine, location excellent.
We stayed in June, and we had very hot weather. Rooms got very hot and there was no air conditioner. It was impossible to be at the room at mid afternoon and early night.

I loved this hotel. The room was so nice, bed was comfortable. I loved the bathroom. And the lighting was great. Perfect location to walk everywhere. They even had a fan to use if you got warm.
I didn’t have a great view out my window. I was on the first floor facing building tops. Would have liked a better view.

Shower and location.
Where should I start…
No air conditioning. The hotel doesn’t advertise it, so that’s not something I can hold against them. However, it was impossible to sleep.
What I can hold against them is blocking my card twice (yes, twice!) for more than €220. The pre-authorisation was completely unjustified, and only one of the charges was reversed after I complained. The second one is still being refunded so at the end they didn’t only preauthorised, they charged me lots of money for nothing.
I was made to feel as though I was in the wrong for raising the issue. Only after several discussions did I receive an apology and a complimentary breakfast.
I understand that mistakes happen, but staff should be trained to explain what went wrong. To this day, I still don’t know what they were trying to charge me for. Twice.
Long story short, it caused me a great deal of stress, which is the last thing you want on holiday.
I will definitely return to Dublin, but I’ll be staying somewhere else.

The stuff. They are amazing. Also the room, the facilities and the cleaning. Honestly great hotel and amazing service. In addition, I requested a note saying happy birthday to my husband, but they decorated the room with balloons (my daughter didn’t want to leave the room) and a beautiful flowers bouquet.

Location was excellent for visiting town and sightseeing.
Room was warm and although there was a fan it didn't cool down much.
Breakfast was average. Started at 7.30am but cooked food was not hot.
Hotel tried to charge us for breakfasts we didn't have (and couldn't have 2 of these due to our check in/out times!
Some noise from nearby bar but we expected that in town.

Handel's Hotel is in a great location in Dublin, a block from the River, at the edge of Temple Bar and around the corner from Christ Church Cathedral. The hotel is in the process of being renovated and we were in an older room with no air conditioning which wasn't great but we were only there one night so it didn't matter too much. I would make sure to request a renovated room when you are booking.
