The old parts of the castle are nicely decorated and impressive, reception people are lovely, walking by the water nearby was really nice. Bus to city is pretty good and not too long
Most rooms are in modern addition to castle, not historic at all, not particularly nice rooms for huge price. Our view was an alley with a rat trap. Room was clean and nice though. Breakfast is really disfunctional, you could easily wait 15 minutes to be seated even though it’s self serve and empty tables visible, managers have no grip on situation, waiters worked hard. One day, didn’t get our coffee till finished eating. One manager even made a man in a mechanized wheelchair leave the room while he was waiting for a table. It was hard for the guy to get there, then he was told to go out again. Unbelievable. Wedding at venue was so loud you could hear the thumping bass a block before you arrived at the hotel. I’m surprized neighbors don’t complain

Whilst you weren’t staying in the original castle, the building was attached and decorated like you would expect a fancy castle would be. Double room was spacious in size, beds were comfortable, shower was great. TV was big and the mini-fridge had lots of milk for coffee and free bottles of water. Staff gave us a “welcome” pack when we arrived which had information about the castles history which was a nice touch! Staff were all friendly and everything was very clean and well maintained. Location good, short drive from city centre. Due to price we could only stay one night for a treat but it was a good stay
Not surprised given the location but the food was quite expensive. We ate in the Knights Bar, which was a little cheaper, but the main restaurant was 100 euros per meal per person
