Don't stay here if you're not impressed by older buildings. This is a gem.

Large room.
The way to the room had a lot of steps and doors. Not so easy when carrying luggages and buggy.

The decor and history are amazing. The location is great for walking to the bars shops and entertainment. Our beds were comfortable and our room spacious.
3 times we asked for heat in our room and were repeatedly told it would be addressed. The only help we got was a mobile radiator from Katy. In fact, she was the only one who attempted to help us. We arrived back after a great day out to a cold room. One day, we were left with damp towels because the heated towel rail was not switched on. We were told it was too early in the year to put the heat on. I have always been under the impression that guests should be accommodated, but obviously, this was not the case. Our experience was ruined because our room was so cold, and the promise of help never materialized!

My room was cozy and comfortable, and the bedding was nice. I loved the old heritage style of the hotel and the lobby and common areas were so inviting!. It was amazing to have a full breakfast included in the room price. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

We liked the hotel’s historic decor. The staff was lovely.
The pub food was good and so was the entertainment.
The hotel needs some repairs. We noted a broken window. And the floor around the sink was dirty. Tissues in the room would have been appreciated. Help with our bags would have helped quite a bit.

Pleasant
Two towels. TV. Baggage storage. Checkout time of 12 noon. Location.
The first room I was given had a large mouldy patch on the ceiling over the bed, there was hair on the floor. Then there was a water leak in the bathroom after I used the basin.
The staff were great and moved me to another room (622) once I reported the leak.

Very clean and location was great.
Window coverings didn’t allowed some light into room at night and some noise from the street as windows are old.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious with a walk in shower. The evening meal (Irish Stew) was very tasty and the musical entertainment enjoyable.
Within walking distance of the book of Kells and the coach to the airport.

Great location within easy walking distance to many of Dublin's attractions. The hotel is bright and has many lovely original decor rooms to sit in and relax. All the people I met that worked in the hotel are so lovely and friendly.Everyone had great knowledge of the shops and where to find the attractions. For a quick stay in Dublin it ticked everybox for me.
I was out and about most of the time but the hotel had everything I needed to support my stay.

Good
• Bed is clean and comfortable
• Towels are impeccably clean
• Bathroom water heat and pressure (both shower and sink) are more than adequate
• Complimentary bottle of water along with coffee & tea supplies replenished every night
• Solid breakfast. The table service breakfast served downstairs is even better.
• Good location. Far enough from the city noise, but close enough to walk to places of interest. If you don't like walking, it doesn't take too many steps to reach a bus stop.
• Shower heads aren't regularly cleaned. Hard water/limescale deposits can be clearly seen.
• Shower heads are the fixed type, not the detachable type. This is more of a matter of preference, so this disclosure is mainly for transparency.
There are more drawbacks, but please note the following:
1. The hotel building is old, so more contemporary comforts may not be feasible for them
2. What I've noted is based on my experience, and may not necessarily apply to other rooms
-
• The bathroom doesn't appear to have adequate ventilation, so any odors and shower steam will linger for longer than you would like. Leave the door open if that is an issue for you.
• There was no individual heating or air conditioning that can be controlled from the guest's end. This may be an issue if you plan on visiting when the weather is very hot or cold, but hardly problematic when the temperature is just right. The windows can be opened to some extent, and there is a small electric fan in the room. Based on photos that I've seen online, some rooms are equipped with radiators, so your mileage may vary.
• Minimal soundproofing. Any sound coming from the hallways can be very clearly heard. I recommend you refrain from having private conversations with sensitive details in the hallway, as people occupying the adjacent rooms will hear you.
