Very Good
Most Staff were wonderful, genuinely helpful and pleasant. Location was very good for walking to city and public transport. Bed and all linens excellent. LIVE entertainment exceptionally good and one of the main reasons I booked Castle. also 24 hour reception. I stayed 6 nights and decided to return for the last 2 of my Ireland visit as it suits my needs.
Contintenal Breakfast (already included in price) was good but a room service charge of ten euros is too much. I had to dress and go down to breakfast room and bring a plate back to my room. I would have aid five euros to have it left at my door.

Convenient location and loved the breakfast and friendliness of staff. Also live music a huge bonus! Great value and comfort.
Kind of dated, and no elevator to our room. Small bathroom. But really thought the value of this hotel was amazing for the price.

Very efficient check in and friendly staff. The room I had overlooked the main road, but being on the 4th floor, the noise of passing traffic and passers by was virtually non existent. The room was spacious, clean and well presented. For once there were enough tea bags and other supplies, e.g. bottle of still water and a mint! Breakfast was unusual in the you could have a continental breakfast from 0700 in one room or the cooked breakfast downstairs starting from 0730 (or indeed both). The choice in either was good and enough to satisfy most appetites. Wifi worked well. Location is good, being just outside the centre of Dublin, i.e. O'Connell Street. Tram stops within a few minutes walk (Parnell & O'Connell Street Upper).
A few small niggles. 1. The shower in the bath was a bit heath robinson. It took a while to get the right temperature. I'd have preferred just a shower. 2. The TV worked OK so long as you wanted to see RTE and all it had to offer. For me the addition of a BBC news channel & BBC1 would have been good. 3. Like a lot of places, prices are very high.

Central location in walking distance to tourist attractions. historic building, nicely renovated, cooked breakfast option, live Irish music and dance performance in hotel restaurant
Absence of real closet in the room. iIt was a maze to get to our room through many corridors, stairs and elevators - but it was a price we were happy to pay for the historic building and atmosphere.

The breakfast was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. There are also good options for dinner at the hotel with live music each night .
The location is fine during the day but it is safer to use a taxi to get back at night as the area is not that safe to walk around in .

location was great - within walking distance of everything. The room was clean. Breakfast was very good.
A staff member (we're assuming since she had a key) came in to our room on two separate occasions while we were in the room. SHE DID NOT KNOCK EITHER TIME. She apologized and said she was there just checking (on what, we do not know) but apparently we had a 'do not disturb' sign on the door in the morning but not in the afternoon. It was very unnerving to say the least that she could simply come in to our room at will. She had the nerve to blame the new staff desk member for not giving her the correct information. That does not excuse her from not knocking first to announce herself. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!

The toilet paper could have been better. Cheap toilet paper does not save money as people just use more sheets. I got a bit lost once when I used the wrong lift and had to navigate from floor 3.

The staff, whether on Reception, serving breakfast or servicing rooms were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much bother for them. The breakfast was excellent and the service was fantastic. We slept incredibly well. The Hotel was well placed for the city and most importantly for us was the secure parking! It meant we could come by ferry and not worry about the car.
There was nothing we didn't like about the Castle.

The Castle Hotel is an older style hotel, quirky, terrace houses knocked through with a great location for Dublin city centre. Check-in at reception was easy and straightforward and after an slightly earlier arrival (flight from USA) than the stated checkin time there was no issues getting into our room. And that's where the problems started.
The room we booked for 4 days was not inexpensive (nothing in Dublin is) but the 4 star rating and the reviews gave us confidence it was a good choice. It wasn't. The room was just not up to a reasonable standard. It felt like a boarding house. It was a corner, garret feel room (303) - directly looking out on adjoining flats, no sheer curtains, very poor water pressure, basin cold water tap ran hot and aged and cheap furnishing and decor. I asked the reception for an alternative room but they indicated they were full that night and could look at it in the morning. Breakfast next day didn't help; poor service, cold toast and dry, overcooked full Irish. The 2nd attempt with the Reception started with their statement that we were already in a 'renovated room' - at that point we cancelled and moved to a modern much better(same price) hotel - 100m away. The Castle charged us a 199euro cancellation fee. Yes T&C of booking but after I spoke with the Reservations Manager and explained our reasons she indicated she'd review my feedback and get back to me - she never did. And that about sums up our Castle Hotel experience.
