We liked the proximity to the train station, but it was far from other points of interest.
No room service even when we had requested fresh towels, we were there for 3 nights. The breakfast was okay but not as good as other places, the coffee could have been better. The wifi was quite poor.

Location can't be surpassed due to its location across the bridge from Heuston Station, where you can catch trains west or the Dublin Express coach bus to the airport. It's a short walk, light rail or taxi ride from the Ashling to local attractions, restaurants, museums, and the Guinness factory. This time, I arrived in the afternoon after a 4-hour train journey from the west, then walked across the street to the Ashling anticipating the usual good night's sleep. Was able to catch the Dublin Express from Heuston directly back to the airport before dawn (bus takes about 45 mins, but if you're from USA, allow 3 hrs before your flight at airport to go through US Pre-Check)

It was quiet. It was very close to the train/bus station. Close to public transportation. The LUAS was great. It ran every 5 minutes. During commute times, it was crowded. Otherwise, it was good. The check-in was easy. They have a doorman. The room was large and comfortable. The bed was excellent. There was lots of hot water. There was a small restaurant if you wanted to eat there. The staff was very helpful if you had questions. It was a truly awesome experience.

Decent sized room, comfortable bed in a quiet part of the hotel
Plastic cups in room, wrapped in plastic is unacceptable, given the room rate paid.
No bottled water in room. Water dispensers placed in corridors is both inconvenient and cheap.
Breakfast at best was bland, cold and tasteless.
