Location was convenient to pubs, transportation
Hot water was very sporadic. Very uncomfortable when taking a shower and water was fluctuating between warm and cold.

The Academy is an ideal, affordable, luxurious hotel in the heart of Dublin City Centre. Walking distance to most transport options, buses, taxis, luas etc. The staff are very knowledgable and will go out of their way to help when needed. The rooms were spacious and affordable with nice finishing touches like local Bewleys tea bags and coffee in each room.
The hotel bar closes early in the night where you are unable to get some ice or a late drink or even a soft drink for the evening. We have stated a number of times and enjoyed the rooms being positioned close to one another, however the double room on the 5th floor was very cold and there was a humming continuing which made it a little more difficult to go to sleep.

The bed was very comfortable and the room was nice. The staff were quite friendly.. The location was perfect.
Shower temperature was a bit difficult to adjust. There was also some early morning maintenance happening one morning. Which was very loud and disturbing. The other 2 mornings were quiet though.

The hotel staff were very accomodating. They changed our room to a twin room for us and the room was available early so we were able to rest after arriving early in Dublin.

Such friendly and helpful staff - they found a fridge to store my perishible goods and found a way for us to check in to one of our rooms early. Also, the location is perfect for transport to/from airport and sightseeing.
The shower is very small and there was some building work gong on. An additional chair for the desk area would be good.

Location is superb. Room was fantastic, as was housekeeping, beds, and our experience in the bar downstairs.
We struggled to get a hot shower all three nights. Hot water comes and goes like it is really driven by demand on it. We found that waiting for an hour changed it from lukewarm (far too cold to shower in) to incredibly hot. That was quite a pain to live with when you're trying to shower just before bed.

Great location, decor was nice and had a TV. Little coffee shop at the entrance was great, and the reception and cleaning staff were really helpful.
Room was a bit on the small side, but perfectly good for a base in the city centre - we were only there for short periods and to sleep, but if you want to spend a lot of time in your room it might get a bit much.
The walls are pretty thin, so you can almost hear full conversation in other rooms, and every time someone went into a room nearby it sounded like they were trying to get into yours. Plus the shower divider was really leaky and left a river along the floor unless you aimed the shower head at the wall.
