Good location, short distance from train station. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely to meet Lorraine at breakfast who looked after us so well. Her local knowledge was excellent.
Room was stuffy, very strong smell of cleaning products when we arrived.

The bed was comfortable, the location was good
It was noisy and dirty. The room had no air con so had to sleep with window open, and it was directly over the loading bay, so I was woken up at 4am by the sound of lorries/vans being unloaded and trollies being wheeled. The room was also not very clean - dirt on the drawer fronts and on the walls by the bathroom.

We loved the central location and the staff were so pleasant and helpful. That was it I am afraid we have to say about the Metropole Hotel.
Nice spacious lobby. Bar was pleasant. That’s it The staff we must say were so, so nice and helpful and very talkative when invited. But a lot of small basic things are overlooked in this hotel.

The hall carpets looked dirty and had many stains. The bathtub had missing caulking and looked like it had mould.

Shower facilities are slightly outdated. When showering the water would trickle down the wall as shower head is so short.

The location of the hotel is fantastic and the lobby has recently been done up so it's beautiful to walk into.
This really didn't feel like a 4 star experience, especially the bathroom. The toilet paper was so cheap, the shower curtain was old and stained, especially at the bottom where it was very dark. The siding of the bath has water damage that looks like mould. The bedroom was very dark and one of the pillows was so lumpy. It looks like the cleaners really do their best to keep the place clean so it wasn't dirty as such, more run down and with lots that needs to be updated. Especially considering the price and star rating of the hotel.
